🇪🇦💶 AVERAGE SALARY OF RESIDENTS OF ALICANTE PROVINCE EXCEEDS 20,000€ PER YEAR FOR THE FIRST TIME According to the latest Labour Market and Pensions Survey, conducted annually by the Spanish Tax Agency, in 2023 the average salary of salaried employees in the province of Alicante exceeded 20,000€ per year for the first time, increasing by 5.6%. This is slightly higher than the national average (+5.2%), but does not put the province among the lowest income regions in the country.

The first positive is the fact that the province saw a marked increase in the number of taxpayers who declared wage income last year. In other words, more people found work, even if only for a day - specifically, 768,954 compared to 749,588 in 2022.

The second positive fact was the significant increase in average income, which rose by 5.6 per cent - more than €1,000 per taxpayer - to €20,186 per year.

But the income declared by residents of the province of Alicante still lags behind the national average, which is 23,981€ per year. One of the reasons for the low wages is the increase in the number of part-time workers and, above all, the large number of professionals with only seasonal work, such as in the tourism sector.

Employees working in the banking sector earn the most, with an average of €36,666. Also above average are professionals in the social services sector (health, education, etc.) - 29,645€; in the information and telecommunications sector - 26,286€; and in industries such as mining or energy and water supply - 25,766€.

The lowest earners are agricultural workers at 11,548€ per year; employees in a number of personal services (hairdressers, masseurs, etc.) at 11,665€ or in business services at 16,975€. In construction the average salary was 18,826€, in trade 18,796€ and in manufacturing 20,381€ per year

🇪🇸📈 THE NUMBER OF MORTGAGE CONTRACTS SIGNED IN SPAIN IN JULY ROSE BY ALMOST A QUARTER YEAR-ON-YEAR According to figures released by the National Institute of Statistics (INE), the number of mortgages taken out to buy homes rose by 23.5 per cent in July compared to the same month in 2023, reaching 36,260. This marks the highest July figure since 2021. Meanwhile, the average interest rate on residential mortgages with an average term of 25 years, following cuts made by the European Central Bank amid improving inflation data and reflected in Euribor dynamics, was lower than in the previous month at 3.17 per cent compared to 3.26 per cent.

Thanks to July’s year-on-year increase, the number of mortgages signed returned to positive levels after two consecutive months of decline. Their average amount in the seventh month of the year rose 6.2% year-on-year to €151,944, while volume increased 31.2% to €5.5bn.

In July, 41 per cent of mortgages were taken out at variable rates and 59 per cent at fixed rates, the highest proportion since June 2023, when it exceeded 60 per cent. The average interest rate at origination was 3.32% for fixed rate mortgages and 2.99% for c variable, which fell below 3% for the first time since August last year.

🇪🇸👩🏻‍🎓 DIPLOMA CONVALIDATION IN SPAIN Diploma Convalidation is the recognition by a Spanish university of the subjects you have studied in your home country. To do this, the university compares the study programmes and the number of hours deducted. The extent to which they match the Spanish programmes will determine how much credit will be awarded.

Convalidation is necessary when:
✅ Transferring to a Spanish university;
✅ Entering as a freshman;
✅ Re-qualification.

A diploma can be partially convalidated, in which case the university will assign examinations in order to achieve the right subjects for your profession. Convalidation is often necessary if the diploma cannot be homologated and the holder needs a Spanish educational document. Convalidation reduces the time taken to obtain a Spanish diploma.

Each university determines for itself whether the university programme you have completed is in line with the Spanish education system. Courses taken can be either partially or fully validated.
OUR DIPLOMA CONVALIDATION SERVICES IN SPAIN:

🔸 Advise on the procedure, answer questions;
🔸 We give you a list of documents and help you to collect them;
🔸 Communicate with the university;
🔸 Submit the documents for convalescence;
🔸 We deliver the finished documents by courier (delivery is charged separately).

💶 Cost of the service: €300.

🇪🇦🪪 NEW REGULATION ON FOREIGNERS IN SPAIN The Council of Ministers of Spain adopted the New Regulation on Foreigners, which everyone has been waiting for almost a year: the reform was first announced in December 2023.
❗ It is important to note that this is not just a change to the current legislation, but the adoption of an absolutely new Regulation that defines the process of legalization of most foreigners in the kingdom. This reform not only affects all existing types of legalization, but also provides for the addition of new ones.
According to the Minister of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, the main objectives of these reforms are to ease deadlines, eliminate procedural duplication and ensure human rights for all persons wishing to legalize themselves in Spain.

Among the main changes:

🔳 The standard validity period of primary residence permits is now one year with the possibility of extension for four years;
🔳 To apply for a residence permit by settlement, you must confirm your residence in Spain for two years instead of three. In this case, the applicant will immediately have the right to work as an employee or sole proprietor;
🔳 Students have the opportunity to work 30 hours a week, instead of the previously valid 20;
🔳 And couples without a documented marriage can apply for family reunification: it is enough to prove the existence of an emotional connection.

🇪🇦👩‍💻 THREE SPANISH CITIES AMONG THE TOP 10 LOCATIONS FOR EXECUTIVE DIGITAL NOMADS
Savills, an international consultancy that analyses how social, demographic, environmental and technological changes are impacting the real estate sector worldwide, has compiled a ranking of the best places for executive digital nomads to live and work in the Executive Nomad Index. Three Spanish cities have made it into the Index: Malaga, Barcelona and Palma.

In a global comparison, Spanish cities stand out for their combination of quality of life, internet speed, air travel, climate and housing prices – typically rental housing, which executives are looking for. Culture, gastronomy and proximity to the sea, along with the launch of the digital nomad visa in Spain, are attracting executives of different nationalities who have the opportunity to work remotely for long periods of time.

Third place in the overall ranking and first in Europe went to Malaga, behind Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Both emirates received top marks for internet speed and air travel, but Dubai has a big advantage in the latter. Its main airport is the world’s busiest in terms of international passenger traffic.

Barcelona and Palma took sixth and seventh place respectively, behind Miami and Lisbon and ahead of the French Riviera and the Caribbean. In addition, the new rankings feature four new destinations that are increasingly attractive to remote workers: Grenada (11), Bali (12), Cape Town (17) and Palermo (22).
