Queer indie pop singer Joey Dean has spent the last six years wrestling with his place in an unrequited world and a congested music industry. He's sought to create a safe space for those who've felt peripheral and different, for those who don't color inside the lines and don't recognize the status quo as their form of homeostasis. Often reflected in his queer peers, or fellow "queerdos" as Dean likes to refer to them, this sentiment fuels the friction of Dean's music. Hard, yet soft. Delicate, yet ever-present. Dean pairs his ambient, synth-driven productions with soaring powerful vocals. His fully engaged vocal technique has been crafted through his classical vocal education and years touring the United States as the frontman in NYC's alternative pop band Pros & iCons.
Dean has performed alongside Shawn Mendes, Meghan Trainor, Jessie J, Charli XCX, Andy Grammer, Todrick Hall, and more.
