A simple cracked tooth has turned me completely upside down! 🙃 And that’s why there hasn’t been a new video for awhile: too many dentist visits and tooth pain. But I’ll be back in a few days sharing lots of drought-tolerant perennials in a new garden bed! Happy gardening! 🌸🌼🌺🌿

Update to the media stories about large Joro Spiders coming to our area: they won’t arrive here (NJ and PA) for a long time. 👍😀🎉

Here’s an excerpt from today’s Philadelphia Inquirer:

…Much of the recent media reporting surrounding jorō spiders, reminiscent of the “murder hornets” scare in 2020, stemmed from a blog post posted by New Jersey Pest Control in January. However, just as murder hornets proved to be mostly a non-issue for humans and pets (eventually being subdued in Washington), the arrival of jorō spiders won’t come anytime soon, said Pennsylvania State University entomologist Michael Skvarla.

At the rate that jorō spiders typically travel, Skarvla expects the spider to land in the region sometime in the next 35 years.
“It’s a slow burn. Based on current spread models, it’s probably going to be 20 to 40 years before that happens,” he said…

Giant yet “harmless” spiders the size of my hand are coming into New Jersey this Summer. This is not providing any garden sanity whatsoever! 😳🫣😱 Read about it here: www.theguardian.com/environment/article/2024/jun/0…

Hi everyone!

I wish you a wonderful holiday season, whether celebrating with family, friends or enjoying some well-earned “you” time curled up with a good book or favorite movie. 📚🍿

The holidays can be difficult for many, and if that’s you this year, I wish you much peace and for kindness from others. ❤️

This little shrub in the photo is Mediterranean Pink Heath blooming right now in my backyard. In Victorian times, Heath symbolized good fortune — and that’s what I hope 2024 brings to each of you, in whatever way you need it.

Thank you so much for your support — whether you hit the like button, left a comment, shared a video, subscribed, offered plant suggestions, left me a Super Thanks gift to support me and my Garden Sanity channel, or simply enjoyed my videos.

My goal is always to help you find sanity in your own gardening and find beauty in your own gardens. Your ongoing support, which helps my channel grow and reach more gardeners, means the world to me. 😊

After the holidays, I’ll be back with new videos and look forward to chatting with you as always in the comments!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! 🎄☃️

Did your USDA Hardiness Zone change — or — are you confused about what it all means? I found the BEST explanation to share with you from Stacey at  @pwcolorchoice  — the video is wonderfully clear and interesting too! Confusion be gone! 😀 My zone changed a bit from 7a to 7b — however I usually just say I'm in Zone 7! Let me know if your zone changed and if you enjoyed this video -- I sure did!

Here's a fun Hydrangea fact I just learned on the ‪@ProvenWinnersYouTube‬ website: "Hydrangeas are
notoriously water-needy, but the “hydra” part of their name actually refers to the seed capsules’ resemblance to ancient Greek water-carrying vessels." What a fun little fact to know! Happy gardening!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to each of you! 🎄🕎🎁 This holiday season kind of snuck up on me this year, so I’ve been taking a few weeks off from filming videos to rest and unwind. I hope you can do the same, even if we’re all indoors due to the deep freeze happening here and in most of the USA right now. ❄️ Thank you for spending time with me gardening and chatting about our gardens over the past year. While I enjoy sharing what I’m doing in my gardens, I also love reading your comments about what you’ve been doing too! 😊 Your questions always help me to know what you’re curious about, and I’ve got several of your plant suggestions on my ever-expanding list to purchase. I hope the rest of this year is peaceful for you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support! ❤️

Happy Thanksgiving to those of you here in the United States. 🦃 One of the many things we can each be thankful for is our gardens. Gardening offers us so much, whether we have a small gathering of pretty containers or a large gardening space. Take some time to remind yourself of just how much you accomplished this year. ❤️🍁 And thank you for joining me here — I really appreciate it! 🍂🌾
