The Colorado River delta restoration efforts are ongoing in Baja California, despite current water disputes. While water availability is a challenge, binational agreements like Minute 323 and restoration initiatives by organizations like Raise the River continue to push for environmental recovery in the delta. However Minute 323 is set to expire at the end of 2026!
To ensure the Colorado River Minute 323 agreement continues beyond 2026, both the U.S. and Mexican governments need to negotiate a successor agreement. Citizens can support this process by advocating for continued cooperation, supporting organizations involved in water management, and promoting responsible water usage practices.

“People often believe that farmers around protected nature reserves need to vacate their lands, due to the burden they place on the ecosystems, but this is simply not true. Their agricultural practices just need to become compatible with those natural environments”, according to ecologist and food forest farmer Wouter van Eck. He is stunned that the Dutch government, in addressing the nitrogen crisis, is completely overlooking agroforestry as a sustainable alternative for dairy farms. “Food forests have zero emissions and support fragile ecosystems instead of harming them. Therefore, rather than expropriating farmers from their lands, we actually have the opportunity to convert 170,000 hectares into food forests.” watch video on watch page
