It is a matter of your and our personal experience that there is a difference in the social status of women and men.
But exactly how much is this difference?
Let us understand from some statistics: A Gender Gap Report is published annually. It attempts to measure gender-based inequality in the world. In this report, India comes at 127th place in the list of 146 countries. The condition of our daughters is terrible.
The report explains with detailed statistics:
тЮЦ The rate of gender-based feticide in India is alarmingly high. Every year 40% of the world's feticide takes place in India alone. It is estimated that due to female foeticide, there are 4-5 crore fewer daughters in the Indian population.
тЮЦ Participation of women in higher education and research institutions is negligible. Only 13% of researchers or teachers in the country's scientific institutions are women.
тЮб The presence of women in top technical and management positions is deficient. Only 5% of top management in Indian companies are women.
тЮЦ Most women are not part of the economy. Only 29% of women are financially independent. In China, this number is 61%.
тЮЦ The condition of women in many poor and small countries is better than in India. In the Gender Gap report, the ranking of Bhutan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka is better than India.
And it is not that this discrimination against our daughters happens in economically weaker areas. Exploitation is thriving even in the affluent areas of our big cities.
So it is not just about the economic situation, but about our personal values. Government schemes and administrative activities are not sufficient to bring about changes in our intrinsic values. Our social consciousness needs an internal revolution.
A change of values is needed, and an internal revolution is needed. Only then will we be able to give a better world and a better life to our daughters. Acharya Prashant is working hard in the direction of this internal revolution.
We want to spread this wave of change and light to every person. From that lies the future of our daughters, and ours too.
But this work is not easy, it requires huge resources. The kind of world we want to create for our daughters is in our hands.

Acharya Shankar's Guru Govindpada said to him, "In the entire country superstition and evil practices have pushed the real religion to the back. You should fight against these false beliefs and spread the teachings of Advaita Vedanta. Start from where false beliefs have co-opted Mahadev Shiva."
Acharya Shankar traveled throughout the country on his journey for the victory of the dharma, and due to this believers of those false practices started to object.
During this journey, he was once sitting in meditation near the Srisailam Jyotirling. A tall and burly guy stood in front of him. His name was Ugrabhairav and he was the leader of a sect that used to do human sacrifice to satiate their deity. Their core belief was that Spirituality is there to fulfill our desires. And one can please Mahadev Shiva through such sacrifices.
He said, "Acharya, you teach that the body is false and life and death are all the same, so I want you to go to Shiva Temple with me, I want to offer your head in sacrifice this time."
On listening to this Acharya Shankar smiled and went with him.
After reaching the temple, he asked, "Why do you want to offer flesh, blood, bones, and excreta to God?"
Ugrabhairav replied, "But I am offering the head of a Great Vedanta Teacher".
Acharya Shankar said, "But once you have severed my head where will you find the Great Vedanta Teacher? Then only flesh and blood will remain."
Ugrabhairav tried his best to stay at a distance from the Truth. He started with his counter-questions. But Acharya's answers which were coming from the depth of Advaita Vedanta had so much truthfulness in them that Ugrabhairav couldn't save himself. Truth engulfed him. He had to realize how he had been distracting seekers towards the wrong path for so many years and also incurred sin for himself in return.
Burning in the fire of the Truth Ugra Bhairav jumped into the sacrificial fire and offered himself to Mahadev Shiva.
