It’s Walt Disney’s birthday today, so here’s some nice art by John Pomeroy from the book “Walt’s Imagination.”

I reached 3000 subscribers! It feels unreal and so cool to have a community of fellow animation buffs. Anyway here's another test: In the 1940s, Walt Disney worked on an animated feature film in collaboration with a famous children's writer. The project resulted in a book, but the film was never made. Who was the author?

Yes this is an actual magazine from 1930’s Mexico. Paquito was a super popular comic magazine at the time, carrying strips from Mickey Mouse and as you see here, Felix the Cat.
How did this happen? Is it a metaphor for Mickey displacing Felix? Why so merciless?

Okay so this is the first shot of the Snow White live action remake. I think these remakes are pointless, but the dwarfs look surprisingly... average? I guess I bought into a lot of the discourse surrounding this movie. The biggest surprise is the CGI. There was a big fuss about using dwarfs, or not using dwarfs, so it looks like the answer was not to use humans at all. Idk I really don't think this will be any better than the last hundred remakes were ngl

This isn’t confirmed but it’s only a matter of time, and I say HELL NAW this trend has gotten ridiculous. I defended these remakes at first but since Dumbo they have gone downhill fast.
Now the classic movies aren’t enough, they gotta do the new ones too smh

Well this is it: 100 years of Disney! Despite the company’s current struggles (I have a whole video on that coming soon) I know it will survive another 100. There’s no company culture quite like it, for better or worse.
Pictured: Walt and Roy in 1923, outside of the Kingswell Avenue studio, the little storefront where they first started working on the Alice Comedies.

Today is the anniversary of the classic Halloween short Trick or Treat. A lot of the classic cartoons are more obscure these days, but this one is easily one of the most mainstream. Especially in October. I see it everywhere these days. And I ain't complaining! The song and the Halloween *aesthetic* are on point in this one. This is my favorite kind of Halloween vibe (the Charlie Brown special is another example)

Disney continues to COOK on home media. After Cinderella 4K came out in August, they're dropping Snow White next week. Cinderella was fire so I will be copping and watching, on disc tho 😤

I make videos on Disney: the man, the company, and everything inbetween. Besides Disney, I also do videos on animation and pop culture in general.
Note: this is a place to talk Disney, animation, and pop culture. Troll comments and abuse will not be tolerated.
