Hello friends! It's been SO long since I've been active on YouTube - unintentionally took a hiatus due to life being very busy with 2 toddlers and being pregnant, and then subsequently giving birth AND then almost immediately afterward our entire family getting the 'rona. Baby is doing wonderfully (7 weeks already) and I'll start posting new videos soon! If you want to catch up, come find us on Instagram @blackriflehomestead - I post almost every day over there. :)

Hey friends! You might be wondering, "Who is this Black Rifle Homestead in my feed? I never subscribed to that!" So I wanted to do a community post to let you know that I, the channel formerly known as Malori Mayor, have officially changed my name! In 2022 I want to focus mostly on our journey of homesteading as a military family. Content like gardening, keeping bees, supporting local farms and economy, healthy eating and cooking, and more - all while living the nomadic life as a military wife, moving every 2-3 years. I wanted to have a new brand name that encompassed this vision, and thus Black Rifle Homestead was born! (I have to give credit to my husband for that one!) The short story is that the term "black rifle" is a moniker for the military. I know that other military families are interested in homesteading but it can be a little tricky because of our lifestyle of never being able to put down roots. However this content isn't just for military families - it is also for you if you're just starting out with the homesteading mindset and you don't/can't have a lot of land yet. Maybe you live in the city or suburb, or your HOA doesn't allow even for backyard chickens. Maybe you want a lot of land and aren't in the place financially for that yet - but you also don't want to put off your dream of being a homesteader. You can still homestead, just like us! :) I'll be doing an intro video for 2022 on this subject, so stay tuned! But I wanted to give y'all a heads up now.
