Hello everyone,
On April 8th 2025 at 3:20 PM I lost my small friend of 12 years to illness. Although she was just a cat she had been with myself and my partner for nearly the length of our own relationship and was present in most of the changes, major and minor, in my adult life.
Recently, I uploaded a video about having bought our first home; our "forever" home and invited everyone to join us in the journey to make it a livable space where we could have the future we spent the last twenty years attempting to achieve. But with the loss of one of my family members who will no longer be able to see that home, I am unable to bring myself to continue working on the series as the project has now become an emotional burden that is difficult to shoulder.
In addition, I am putting aside, for the time being, any ideas and projects for future crafting videos. In my videos I attempt to promote positivity and the drive to move forward and create regardless of the circumstances, but as I deal with my loss I will not be able to do that in a genuine fashion and I am unwilling to force a smile to make "content".
New videos will come, but I cannot say exactly when. I have a small tribute I wish to make to my long time friend and will most likely be showing that as a video, but I want to put the time and effort into it that it deserves and cannot do that at this time and in this space.
For now I ask that you enjoy whatever content on my channel you have seen and know that I am not done, but that in my late middle-age and with the loss of a friend, I have to reorganize, regroup, and decide what my new future will look the like. A future now missing a key piece.

Hey everyone!
Um... happy new year! Wow, super late.
So here's the deal; I've been working on a game for a while now. Combine that with my (new) new job... (the travel one ended a little while ago) and I don't have a lot of time to make new content so it's slow. I did notice I was making a video every 1-2 months which I figure, sure with all the other content out there that's perfectly acceptable!
But this last gap has been pretty big. Blame the holidays and the fact I don't usually make "themed" videos to be released on specific dates.
I do have some footage I shot of fixing a thing that broke just before Christmas, but due to some financial issues I wasn't able to get the bits I needed to fix the problem. That has all been corrected and I now have a little bit of footage to turn into a video! Now I just need to find the time.
I still have a lot of ideas to work through, but life is what it is and as this is just a hobby for me I might not be as fast at it as other creators, but I'm still here making things.

Hey everyone!
I've been busy with a new job and life changes so videos have been a bit delayed... more than usual anyway, but I did get a couple of comments on my videos stating that people would rather I not have music in my videos.
I know this is a sticking point in a lot of videos, but many of my videos have no ambient audio so when I'm not talking it's just dead air due to having to cut out background noise like a TV (shared space) or the hum of my computer (dulls the other sounds) etc.
So here's a poll asking you, my subscribers, whether you would rather than music or not in the videos. There are four options because I think that cover most bases. Remember: if you want to have a word on this you have to push the little buttons as I'm not a mind reader... yet.

Hey everyone!
It's been a while and things have slipped by me a bit, but I wanted to let you all now I'm still alive and working on things! As some of you might have seen I uploaded a trailer for Andy Blast Vs The Forces of Evil; a game I've been working to complete for many years and finally have made the push to do so by creating a trailer, a demo, and a Steam page for it! You can even download the Shareware/Demo of it and play the first three levels:

The release date is not solid, but should be sometime this year. When I have time to work on things that's where most of my effort is going, but there's not a lot to show off as it's a bit of a jumbled mess.
As that's been taking up a lot of my time the rest is with a new job that has me traveling and with that travel comes overnight stays and keep me away from my crafting station and then exhaustion when I get home that makes it difficult to work on things, but I'm still trying!
One thing I did was buy a used Yamaha PSR-292 and restore it as I've always wanted to try to learn to make midi/synth tunes, but never had any keyboard. I did not record it as it was the classic "scribble pencil on the connectors" fix.
Additionally, I really enjoyed Bill Making Stuff's "Big Bot Bash" and wanted to join in the fun, but the project and the rolls I got require skills I'm not super confident in so, along with all the other delays, I'm hesitant to move to the next step! But rest assured I'm putting aside a day soon to just "DO IT!" and move to the next part regardless how it turns out.
So for those awaiting new content, it's coming! Soon! But my project work and upload schedule is going to stay a bit erratic for a while as my life reforms itself and I get some balance under my feet again so please stay tuned!

I tend to feel "Stretched thin" online these days as there are so many websites to upload things to and host things at and many of the accounts I have on those sites are not unified in any way. Because of that, I decided to go "old-school" and create a hub website for the purpose of linking all the places I hang out and create content so that people interested in my works can view all of them despite the username I chose when I signed up!
There's a couple reasons for this. One is so I can share all the things I'm working on, which is often several things, even if one isn't a video and the other is so that people who may enjoy my content here can enjoy content I make on other sites easily!
This isn't going to increase the speed at which I make things, but it will allow viewers to see what I'm up to when I post a new game or do a Let's Play rather than a crafting video to show that I'm still active even if it's somewhere else online!

Hey everyone!
I wanted to let you all know that I'm still working on things, but a little slower than normal due to life-stuff. I hope you're all having a good Holiday season and I wanted to show off a bit of one of my current projects!
This is a flocked wire-tree and, though you've probably seen these before, this is my first one, ever!
In the video I'm making that involved this little guy (and a few others) I'll tell you how I made it as well as all the little stumbles on the way to my goal so stay tuned!

Hey everyone!
The Holidays are upon us! And for most content creators this is a great time to get things in front of an audience who may be stuck somewhere, away from home, with only the warm glow of their phone screen to keep them upbeat! With this in mind you can see how I haven't uploaded anything recently!
But not to worry; I am constantly working on things, but sometimes "working on things" means I'm thinking about doing them a lot, but am either busy with work, distracted by some other project that just popped into my head, or am working on something that I can't really make a video on as is the case right now!
I've been really into coding some things lately and it's been a lot of fun! I did a poll not too long ago asking if people would like to see some coding and it didn't get a great response so I've not been recording any of it. Also, my coding is a LOT of trial and error with micro-iterations between attempts. Any time you see me display some completed code please know it took hours or poking, prodding, looking online, and hoping for the best to get it to even the basic prototype state it's usually shown in. So I also don't want people to think I'm great at coding by only showing the "Aha!" moments when it all works, while at the same time, twelve hours of code iteration isn't all that satisfying, either.
So please note; I am working on physical things (the state of my desk proves this) and more videos will be out as soon as I'm able, but, for me, this whole thing is still in the hobby stage so sometimes it has to take a backseat to other things I'm doing! Please feel free to enjoy what I've uploaded so far and more is on the way!

Hey everyone!
I don't really have an upload schedule at the moment, but I wanted to let you guys know there might be a slightly longer delay than normal to my uploads as I've recently moved! The biggest concern with any move is finances and I'm having to keep a close eye on mine for the moment so projects that are half-finished or need extra parts have to be put to the side until I can get stable again.
I'm not done with things yet, though! Expect to see something sooner rather than later and know I've not given up yet!

Hey everyone!
Sometimes I make games and have been for many years before starting this channel. None of them are commercial, most of them are tech demos, and fewer of those are finished, but if you would be interested in a video on such a topic feel free to leave a comment or a like to let me know!
It wouldn't be a "How to" really because there are so many ways to approach a game project, but more of a "Here's some ideas" or "Here's how I do it" sort of overview. I'd like to do this to get away from my normal form of editing which is linear and try something more open ended that requires more than just cutting up videos and talking over them! It's always good to try and get better!

Hey everyone!
Just after I posted the last poll to ask about the shelves I suddenly came down with an illness that's been keeping me off my feet for the last week. It may not seem like a long time, but in terms of video to video it's like forever!
Just wanted to let everyone know I've got a few video idea/projects on the burners, but they've all stalled out while I recover. Even my day job has taken a back seat to... you know... breathing!
So stay tuned and I'm not out yet, but it's going to be a couple more days until I can make something work because right now even recording B-Roll is outside my energy range!

The idea for Encouraging Things came from the idea of the "Renaissance Man"; or a person who has knowledge of many different subjects, but shows mastery of few. Encouraging Things is not a teaching channel. Not in the classic sense. It is a channel that is meant to teach you that in order to reach the place where most people are, to become a master at something, you have to fail at it, try something new, try something different, put it down for a while, and pick it back up again later.
I like to learn new things, try them out, find out if I can be good at them. This channel will help me do that and, hopefully, it might help you pick up something new and try it out and maybe you can also become good at it. Let's find out together!
