Anson Thomas worked for Mumbai Customs as a Preventive Officer, played hockey for Mumbai and Indian Customs. He used sports to venture into the redlight areas among the children born in the Brothels. He took many high profile sports personalities to the Redlight areas to be positive role models for the children. Today, these kids have done their MBA, BSC-Nursing, graduates, many are married and settled in their life. He was the recipient of CNN IBN Real Heroes award for WOMEN EMPOWERMENT in the year 2009 as he had rescued over 800 women and children as young as 12 yrs all over India. When he received his CNN award, made a statement that his vision, mission is to see the whole redlight into greenlight area. Soon after this statement, he took voluntary retirement in 2010 from the Customs Dept. He has produced a Hindi Bollywood Film with English subtitles "PLEDGE TO PROTECT" a biopic on his 30 years journey in the redlight areas of India and the world.
