This isn't Disney, it's the future...
Travel back to the early 1980s with me, as we explore those first years of one of Disney's greatest creations: EPCOT Center.
We may not have gotten Walt's city of tomorrow, but in the end we may have gotten something even better.
And at the heart of the Epcot experience, was the music.
So if you're feeling nostalgic for Disney and the 1980s, you've come to the right place.
This is EPCOT Center.

There's just something about Pete's Dragon...
It killed Disney musicals for the next decade.
It stunted Disney animation for the next decade.
It also has multiple Oscar nominations and continues to be adored by its fans.
It's an interesting bit of Disney history.

Don't skip The Gnome Mobile!
This movie is way weirder (and more charming) than you’d expect.
What starts off as a mild-mannered family road trip movie somehow spirals into a gnome courtship ritual, a car chase through the redwoods, and Walter Brennan acting opposite… himself.

The Jungle Book almost looked very different.
Dark and serious aren't exactly words that describe the animated film, but they could have!
This deep dive uncovers the wild story behind Walt Disney’s 1967 classic - from creative clashes and cut songs to jazzy soundtracks and Xeroxed animation.
It’s everything you thought you knew about The Jungle Book… turned upside down.

Sure, you know Alexander Hamilton, but what about Benjamin Harrison?
Disney ventured into political musicals long before it was cool! Based on Laura Bower Van Nuys’ prairie memoir, the film transformed from a TV biopic into a full-fledged Sherman Brothers musical after Walt heard the rousing title song.
Despite its charm - and this being Walt's last movie project - both the film and original cast soundtrack prove oddly hard to find.
But if you're a fan of Disney Americana, the always talented Sherman Brothers, or vintage Hollywood history, this forgotten gem is worth rediscovering.
This is The One and Only, Genuine Original Family Band.

Think you know Disney’s Robin Hood? Think again.
Before the animated fox ever charmed his way into our hearts, Disney released a full-blown live-action Robin Hood over 20 years earlier — and most fans don’t even know it exists.
In this deep dive, I explore both Disney versions of the legendary outlaw: the underappreciated 1952 Technicolor swashbuckler "The Story of Robin Hood and His Merrie Men" and the beloved animated classic we all grew up with.
This is the tale of Disney's two Robin Hoods.

Hobbits galore! - and a new deep dive video out today:
https://youtu.be/MijC-eUq-YQ
Well before Peter Jackson took creative liberties with J.R.R. Tolkien’s beloved novel, The Hobbit made its movie debut on the small screen in 1977.
In my latest Once Upon a Record video, I take a look at the unique legacy of the animated film, what it has to do with both Disney and Studio Ghibli, and pay tribute to the talented artists that worked on this lost and forgotten soundtrack.
I have also released three new Hobbit albums here on Disney Recordland (and a fourth was uploaded earlier this month):
The Hobbit - Original Soundtrack Songs featuring Glenn Yarbrough
The Hobbit - Read Along Album
The Return of the King - Storyteller Album
The Return of the King - Read Along Album
I hope you enjoy!

New deep dive video out now: The Shaggy Dog
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GWNSu...
Disney’s The Shaggy Dog might be one of the strangest success stories in the studio’s history — a shapeshifting spy comedy, a talking sheepdog, and a bizarre tie-in record featuring a dog MC, questionable saxophone solos, French love songs, and the man of a thousand voices.
Join me as I take a deep dive into the 1959 film, its peculiar Disneyland Records companion album, and the legacy of a franchise that just won’t quit.

Vintage Disney vinyl refreshed for the digital age!
Through the years I have transferred hundreds of Disneyland, Muppets and other children's albums, restoring these classic recordings to their original brilliance.
While all of the transfers you hear are my own work, the recordings are obviously owned by original copyright holder. I am hopeful I can post them here for everyone's enjoyment, as most of these old albums were never released digitally.
Feel free to reach out in the comments with any requests. Unfortunately, some albums end up being blocked on YouTube due to copyright issues, so those will not be posted.
I hope you will also visit my second channel, Once Upon a Record - youtube.com/@onceuponarecord - where I produce video essays taking an in-depth look at specific Disneyland Record titles.
