Update on my GT2 modding here. I've been doing more playing around with the modding tools to do more menu edits, changing logos, color restoration, and adding more cars into this mod. I think I'm getting the hang of them, but want to experiment more. So yeah, the VW Polo icon isn't going to stick as I'll replace it with a better one.

Note: The Z3 M Coupe isn't mine, it was a model made by 7keyz from the A-Spec modding team. I did do the color edits with the Nismo cars. They're color mods I made a long time ago and forgot about. Since I'm modding GT2 again, I decided to implement them properly.

Though while talking about modding, I guess I can talk about a vision I have about a GT2 mod IF I were to make a big mod like with GT2 Plus or Project A-Spec. My mod would be called "Gran Turismo 2: Millennium Edition", the idea if Gran Turismo 2 got re-released a year later with a lot of new content including stuff Polyphony may have wanted to include originally. Plus a few extra cars of my choice.

I guess with cars, it would start with restored hidden cars from the retail game and demos such as the CLK Race Car, Polo 1.4 (as seen in post), Audi A4 Avant, BMW e36 323i Coupe, Nissan 200SX, Mugen S2000, etc. But then once I had modelling down; include deeper cuts like the Lamborghini JLOC Diablo JGTC, Ferrari JGTC F355s, SOK Mclaren, Pagani Zondas, and Mercedes CLK-GTR. Also in my mod, cars from the year 2000 (and maybe early 2001) allowed. That means the 2000 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra R, Viper GTS-R Concept, and more. I might make up a car list later if people are curious.

For events, I think I would take the A-Spec route and change some of them to include new cars or be completely different from the base game. Like change the Toyota MR-S Trophy to the MR2 trophy, put supercars or something in the 3rd Japanese Nationals, add sports cars and race cars in the 3rd US Nationals, overhaul the Euro and pacific leagues, etc.

If tracks were possible, Indi & Monte Carlo would be indeed restored along with SSR11. Of course this is all hypothetical for now, I don't know if I would go through with this as it sounds too ambitious for me.

Anyway, that's all I have for now, good night. (or good morning/afternoon depending on where you live, I live in the US).

The fact I finally know how to add physics and even edit menus in Gran Turismo 2 is a joy in itself. There is a lot I could do with that once motivated. Of course, this is just experimenting as I still have a lot to learn. Like figuring out the last few roadblocks preventing me from adding my own custom 3d models in GT2. I watched the tutorials, but they still confused me on some steps.

If you were wondering about the next Project A-Spec update and haven't watched The Real Emile's video on it. Give it a watch now!

So apparently, Kunos has talked about how modding will be open in the next Assetto Corsa. Though they still don't want to support conversion mods it seems. What do you think about that?

My opinion:
Personally, I do think not being open to conversion mods can make sense as they don't want to get in trouble over copyright issues since technically ripping models from other games is a copyright violation. Especially when some of these conversion mods are sold across websites. At the same time though, I feel like taking a stance against conversions can hurt creativity a bit as they're kinda a gateway for a lot of people to get into modding. A lot of mods in AC right now are conversions and a good amount of them have quality and effort put into them. Yes, there's cases out there of someone taking a model from Forza, doing the bare miminum and plopping it into AC while selling it behind a paywall (Simdream & EX-Mods come to mind). But not every conversion is like that from my experience. A lot of my favorite mods are conversions.

Anyway, that's what I had to say; tell me what you think.

Alright, I noticed no immediate way to have access to Piezello's Autumn Ring redux track mod in Assetto Corsa. So, I uploaded my own file of it to google drive. Note: I accidently got the original Autumn Ring mod mixed with it, so keep that in mind. But the redux track is still accessible.

Well, I'm going to dabble with modding GT2 myself again. I started learning how to edit stats and car physics. Note: The NSX's stats will be corrected once I get more used to this, it's using the 1998 Castrol NSX physics as a placeholder currently with some slight modifications.

As for what I've done with the Vipers; it's something I wanted to do with them for a while. Add the 1997 Vipers from the GT2 demos as separate cars to the 1999 Vipers. No more just replacing the 1999 Vipers nor giving them the 1997 colors. Now they're both available to drive.

I went and counted the amount of races in GT4 this week and learned it had 505 regular races in the entire GT mode, 521 including the endurance events, and 555 if you were to count the Driving Missions as races. But I wouldn't count those even though technically they are races. So if you ever wondered why GT4 feels so massive, there you go.

I honestly didn't think the gap of races between GT4 and 3 was that huge (GT3 has 328 races including the endurances). Mainly because I noticed less events in GT4's leagues than GT3's leagues. Of course that's because GT3 had its regional races, one-make races, and normal races put together. While in GT4, they were separated into their own spots.
