A look at the almost complete Glenn/Robert G. Holderness Station on the SACRT Gold Line double tracking project. Signs are installed at the stations inbound side now both sides now have signs. The new SACRT blue station signs now display inbound and outbound info both no matter what side you are on but instead should of displayed Cosumnes River College instead of Meadowview. Glenn is the first station to get this new style blue signs. That crossing signal is the yellow flasher. Also, the stations pedestrian path crossings are paved over. The last picture is crews still working on the OCS over the weekend. The crossing signal in the first picture is the yellow flasher. This week, I'll be posting a lot about this project as I'll be filming an update video as its been 2 months since the last and also one month until the projected opening timeframe. I did an big update video every 2 months on this project.

The rest of the pictures from yesterday of the almost finished OCS for the Glenn Double Tracking with pic 3 and 5 showing the new wire connected with the old wire. All that is left to do is electrify the OCS when complete, repave Glenn Dr and install yellow lights into its yellow flasher and add signs and finish the gate lights at the crossing, install the warning strip and signs at the Glenn/Robert G. Holderness Station.

Also, at Bidwell St install yellow lights into its yellow flasher and signs and fix a crooked light by a truck, replace a missing gate at Blue Ravine Rd from the Feb 4, 2024 storm, replace and broken in half gate at Parkshore Dr from the Feb 4, 2024 storm, and fix the broken lights at Natoma St by a truck, inspect ROW and start running test trains. During the middle of test trains running is likely when SACRT will give an reopening of service date and start 15 min Folsom service. They also have to get the crossing beacons active at 6 crossings between Birkmont St - Mercantile Dr.

September 20, 2024 The OCS wires are almost complete earlier than I expected in Folsom on the SACRT Gold Line doubke tracking project. When they are done, just waiting on SACRT to announce test trains after track inspection.

-------------------------------------

Picture 1 - 3, OCS Wires Almost Complete at the Glenn/Robert G. Holderness Station. Also note that the outbound wayside signal has now gone live (powered up). This means Glenn Dr crossing is also live now. Pic 3, the south side of Glenn Station Pedestrian crossing is almost finished. Wont be signalized. Also, the inbound platform is mostly done and had its lamps installed.

Picture 4, OCS wire installed at Parkshore Dr waiting ti be connected to the bracket.

Picture 5, OCS Wires installed over the Glenn Dr crossing.

----------------------------

After these go wires go live, track inspection follows and just waiting on SACRT to announce test trains will start running.

Picture 1, Beck Ave on the CFNR Lombard Sub had its WCH (that died) & WRRS Mechanical Bells replaced with GS Type 3 E-Bells. BUT, the closer one was not ringing umfortunately. Likely a misswire. Its always the occasionall GS Type 3 E-Bell that doesn't work right away after installation. Note that this is alao the signal the dead WCH Mechanical Bell was on also to note just in case if its possible it may not been a bell isssue but something else or not.

I also still have one video not published yet of Beck Ave with both mechanical bells with the dead WCH.

----------------------------

Picture 2, Did a brief stop in Napa while the CFNR UP's LRJ90 job was working the Lombard Yard in American Canyon and caught the Napa Wine Train once today going across Trower Ave which has new track panels after grade resurfacing was done at the crossing and also replaced track ties and rail at the crossing. However, the GS Type 2 on the cantilever remains dead. I was last here 5 months ago hoping by now the bell was replaced.

----------------------------

Picture 3, Although SACRT a week or 2 ago stated that the Glenn Station double tracking is on time for an late Oct 2024 opening, Glenn Dr's road close is back up on Google Maps after it expired from its original July 2024 and was never put back up until now. The problem is though, they put early Nov 2024. I am not sure what would hold the roadway up being closed till November or what would cause the light rail project to reopen in late November when the OCS is being setup as of right now and the project is literally almost done in time for testing soon. SACRT doesn't have an official date till train testing starts on when it will open just saying Oct 2024.

This is what fustrates me about SACRT's projects. They always got to do everything in baby steps which leads to the public not having enough information and uncertancy while other light rail systems can get their projects done in a timely manner with little delay or have a start and finish date at the BEGINNING of the project and also not take small steps for example like how SACRT's S700s are now in service but its only 20 of them so running them one the Gold Line and spare 1 for the Green Line, They ahve to do mixed fleet runs with the old cars and the mixed fleet runs are causing significant train delays due to handycap passengers not being sure where to go to board a train due to the mixed fleet running. I wish SACRT ordered more than 20 cars for the first batch which would of prevented this but them again, SACRT recieves less federal funding than any other system in California which doesn't help. The original completion date for this double tracking project when construction started was July 2024 but due to wrong surveying for underground conduits and tree width (personally, I think SACRT did the survey right but waited so long to finally start the project, the trees grew in width) it delayed the project 3 months if early Nov 2024 is a new date then 4 months. 9 to 10 months for .6 miles of track to be layed... But anyways, train testing should be happening in Folsom by mid Oct 2024 but if Glenn Dr is closed and still being worked on, I may have to film my first videos from across the intersection...

The SACRT project delays makes me not look forward to the Dos Rios Station Project and Sacramento Valley Station Relication Project. Those may miss multiple start dates but then finally start and get delayed mid construction like the Glenn Double Tracking Project...

Stopped by Glenn Dr again today this time for some on site photos while no heavy construction is done on Sundays but there was still some construction today on OCS Poles.

Picture 1, A view of the new Glenn Dr crossing from the site and a couple of new traffic signals installed. More traffic signals and crosswalk buttons and signals will be installed soon. Note also, the median cirbe has been cut out for the crosswalk relocation. New concrete for the roadway and sidewalk has not been layed yet but will in the coming weeks. I wish the cantilever had side lights for the bike path facing right and facing left for the crosswalk.

Picture 2, Just like I thought, the gate lights at Glenn Dr are the original design NEG Gate LEDs. Unsure uf they are incandescent or LED at all. Be interesting if SACRT uses incandescent gate lights on a new install. This I believe was NEG's original or one of the oldest design of NEG Gate Lights and from what I'm told, they aren't even on NEG's site anymore.

Picture 3, At Glenn Dr, I originally thought it was, but then yesterday, they looked like Dialight but yes, the side lights of the median intersection side signal are GE/Harmon Fading LEDs and the only 2 pairs of them at the crossing as the rest of the lights are Leotek EV Series LEDs at the crossing.

Picture 4, There is still one signal mast and even a crossbuck and likely lights left in the equipment area still. I at first thought that it would be the mast for the yellow flasher signal but the two yellow flasgers for Glenn Dr and Bidwell St are already installed. There are also 5 or 6 signal foundations left sitting in the equipment area. I wish these extra crossing equipment would be used as a new added signal at other Folsom area crossings or used for the Glenn Station Pedestrian Crossing signal or even used as a pedestrian gateless mast.

Picture 5, Crews were still working today mainly on the OCS Poles to get them ready to install the wiring in the coming weeks.

Yesterday September 14, 2024, Also check previous Sep 14 post before this one as it has Glenn Dr and station updates as cantilever was installed.
More pictures of OCS Pole installation along the double tracking project of the SACRT Gold Line in Folsom, California. Also, the gate and crooked mechanism fixed at Natoma Street. All OCS Poles are installed and just waiting till the wire gets installed after some tree branch trimming. The electric wires likely will be done by early October in time for train testing if not slightly earlier.

Picture 1 & 2, The construction crews putting together the OCS Poles near Bidwell St. Note the new yellow flasher warning signal temporarily with 12x24 inch Dialight Ball LEDs that will be swapped with yellow LEDs.

Picture 3 & 4, OCS Poles installed near Parkshore Dr.

Picture 5, The gate and crooked mechanism at Natima St crossing was fixed. However the lights are still broke. SACRT will repair when test trains start running. Same with the broken and missing gates at Blue Ravine Rd and Parkahore Dr and the crooked light at Bidwell St.

Picture 1 & 2, The new Siemens Cantilever has been installed this week at the Glenn Dr railroad crossing on the SACRT Gold Line and even the traffic signals and yellow flasher (pic 4). All crossing signals have now been installed here at Glenn Dr. I like that both the cantilever and back light gated mast will also both hold a crossbuck and tracks sign. This will be the first SACRT signal with both and front and back crossbuck. Also, the median intersection side signal lights look more like 12x24 inch Dialight Ball LEDs. Last week I thought they were GE Harmon Fading LEDs. The cantilever looks to sport all 12x24 inch Leotek EV Series LEDs. All gates are on all signals amd sport gate lights simular to NEG's original gate light design.

Picture 3 & 4, As you can see, OCS Poles have been installed along the whole lendth of the construction projects now from Bidwell St to Parkshore Dr. Seeimg these up mean the project is almost done as when the wires are put up after some tree branch trimming, test trains can start running hopefully by the first 2 weeks of Oct possibly for an mid to late October service reopening. Also note that the inbound platform for the Glenn/Robert G. Holderness Station is almost done as it now has concrete but the pedestrian crossing still needs to be built but starting to. Also at the station is the new yellow flasher for Glenn Dr. Note ints installed as a normal crossing signal first and sports Dialight Ball LEDs which will be swapped with yellow LEDs. The Blue Line extension back in 2015 did this same thing when installing the yellow flashers. You can see Glenn Dr in the background.

Picture 5, The new yellow flasher signal for Bidwell St after the last one was knocked down. Like mentioned like Glenn, it has red Dialight Ball LEDs which will be swapped out for yellow LEDs and will have signs added. I find it interesing SACRT is using 4 inch masts for its mid 2020s yellow flasher Installs. Wish Glenn Dr had gateless pedestrian masts added as they would of been the same thing and would of sported Dialight Ball LEDs. It appears a SACRT mid 2020s signal install is manly Siemens Safetran equipment with 12x24 inch Leotek EV Series LEDs as the main LEDs and 12x24 inch Dialight Ball LEDs also.

Note I will post more tomorrow from todays pictures since I got a lot like to mention, Natoma St crooked gate has been fixed that was almost touching the overhead wire.

Got this quick snap as i'll do a full update video Saturday. I was in Folsom from another reason but I can see the Gold Line double tracking construction from where I was driving by and I was able to see that some OCS Poles have finally been installed in the new double track section. These OCS Poles are near Parkshore Dr. The project works from north at Bidwell south to Parkshore and since these are seen at Parkshore, they may have most installed most OCS Poles. Whe will see Saturday. Also, when the OCS Wires are installed, they can start testing trains and hopefully that will be earlier than expected leading to an early opening date then late Oct.
