If you saw our most recent video, NAPA Auto Parts pulled their sponsorship from the Fitz-Bradshaw Racing team. Unable to find a new major sponsor so quickly before the Subway 400, owners Armando Fitz and Terry Bradshaw have decided to step back from the Cup Series and return to competing back in the Busch Series. They met with Kerry and decided to amicably part ways for the time being, as Kerry wants to focus on the 2004 Nascar Cup Series.
A ride for the race at Rockingham was looking unlikely, until Brett Bodine gave Kerry a call on Tuesday. Bodine had not ran at Daytona and was planning to retire from driving, but saw what happened to Kerry and offered to help. They met the next morning, with the race weekend at Rockingham looming and came to a deal:
- The assets of Brett Bodine Racing was sold to Kerry Earnhardt for an undisclosed amount. This includes the facility at 304 Performance Rd in Mooresville, NC. There are plans to expand if the operation goes well. Brett Bodine Racing has been renamed to Kerry Earnhardt Racing with Brett Bodine.
- Hooters will sponsor the car for 27 races, running the white and orange paint scheme made famous by the late Alan Kulwicki, the 1992 series champion. This will include a silver and orange tribute scheme at the Food City 500. Minor sponsors include New Era, US Micro Corporation, Pilot, MAC Tools
- The team will drive Fords, which will be an adjustment as Kerry has only driven Chevrolets, but Hooters insisted on Fords.
- It is unknown if Hooters will provide free wings if Kerry gets a top 10.
