The Cassidy warehouse renovations continue. Cement blocks covering the first floor windows, save for a scratchbuilt glass block window closest to the corner. Patching and modifications to the upper story windows next.

Buildings are not unlike people. They change over time and don't always age gracefully. On a railroad modeling the 1990s, a building from the 1920s will be an archaeological library of changes and modifications. Bricked- and blocked-over windows, external HVAC units and other appliances rigged into windows and other openings, decorative features deleted and replaced with utilitarian substitutions. The Cassidy warehouse is in the process (by no means complete) of finally becoming its 'real' age.

Brick and concrete are challenging materials to model in N scale. Neither is just one uniform color, and modeling mortar joints at such a small scale can be a test of patience. That aside, as buildings wear out it's not just about accumulated dirt. Discoloration and degradation of materials are important elements to model. The warehouse reno continues. It's a multimedia art adventure that takes quite a while to do thoughtfully. We'll get to part one once the remaining sides are done.

I built this Walthers warehouse back in 2017. It represents the Cassidy Tires warehouse on Clinton St. While I'd painted it, I never actually finished it out to look realistic. It'll take a few sessions to get this building looking great, lots to do. Camera's rolling as I work. Taking care of the concrete structural frame today.

The IC boxcar - lightly and thoughtfully weathered. A computer issue means a delay in video production for the week, but with footage for 2 of 3 weathering videos recorded, it’ll be a nice series.

Midway through the first railcar for the CCMR Weathering Series. Creating the 'oilcan' effect on the bulkheads has been an interesting challenge in faux painting. I can't say I've got a method to share, more a lot of twists, turns and adaptations using different methods.
