This is going to sound really pathetic, but I am going to be open with you all... I am considering stopping posting videos about history and folklore or at least disabling comments.
These videos are really hard work to make. Each time I spend hours upon hours researching, compiling information from different sources, or days of work spent visiting historical sites, recording and editing to make these.
However, each time I post one, I am inundated with horrible comments. Some of the comments are so crazy it is hard to believe people are writing them, it seems people get incredibly heated about history and folklore! I really don't think my videos are that controversial, but often the comments come to personal attacks on me and I can't help but take it to heart.
People will then go over to my other social platforms and send me the creepiest or most horrible things, and I find it genuinely scary. You never know what lunatics are out there and you often hear horror stories, especially as a young woman.
I don't want to stop looking at comments because I love replying to all of you kind folk who do comment and I want to delete these crazy people so you don't have to see them too, but these awful people affect me a lot when I am putting a lot of work into trying to create something positive for people.
So I am at a cross roads... my casual videos and vlogs don't seem to bring in this kind of attention, so it's reached a point where I am considering not posting history/folklore anymore, which is very sad.
I usually wouldn't post something like this publicly as it's quite embarrassing, but I want to be open and transparent.

Hello! Apologies for the silence and lack of video recently, Iβve had a really awful chest infection and am still recovering.
As soon as I can go more than ten seconds without coughing, a video will be up! π€
