A San Franciscan since 1981, Mark has given over 35,000 private one-hour guitar lessons to over 700 students and has worked as a solo performer and side man in numerous bands and collaborations.
Mark Newstetter was born in 1957and grew up on New York City’s Lower East Side. At 9 he began playing guitar and piano, and by his late teens was performing regularly in Greenwich Village coffee houses.
Mark has written hundreds of songs, many of which are yet-to-be-discovered timeless classics, but remain obscure due to his poor promotional skills and generally lousy luck being in the right place at the right time or meeting the right people.
Nonetheless, Mark forges on, having been conditioned to believe that if you love doing something enough, and put everything you've got into it, sooner or later it'll pay off — "sooner" has come and gone, so he's still holding out for later.
