The University of Georgia Biomedical and Health Sciences Institute (BHSI) was established in 2001 to coalesce and expand the research strengths of UGA and to develop new interdisciplinary curricula in these fields. The Institute was created to help increase the University's accomplishments as a leading source for research discoveries, training, and new technology relevant to understanding, diagnosing, preventing and treating disease.
The BHSI focuses its efforts through three Divisions - Basic and Translational Biomedical Sciences, Neuroscience and One Health. The Institute also serves as the home to UGA's Interdisciplinary Neuroscience Ph.D. Program, Master of Biomanufacturing and Bioprocessing Program, and the Interdisciplinary Biomedical Sciences Ph.D. Program.
