Irish singer Sinéad O'Connor has passed away at the age of 56. 💔
Few details have been revealed about her death at this time, according to The Irish Times which first reported the news. This comes a little over a year after O'Connor's 17-year-old son Shane passed away.
O'Connor rose to fame in the '90s after her hit "Nothing Compares 2 U" hit international success. Throughout her career, she used her platform to speak out on all kinds of issues including feminism, religion and war but also had a complicated history with mental illness.
At the time of her death, the singer was going by the name Shuhada' Sadaqat after her conversion to Islam in 2018.

"It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tina Turner. With her music and her boundless passion for life, she enchanted millions of fans around the world and inspired the stars of tomorrow," a representative announced in a statement posted to Facebook.
"Today we say goodbye to a dear friend who leaves us all her greatest work: her music. All our heartfelt compassion goes out to her family. Tina, we will miss you dearly."
In recent years, Turner had suffered ill health, being diagnosed with intestinal cancer in 2016 and having a kidney transplant in 2017. Now, at the age of 83, she passed away peacefully in her home in Küsnacht near Zurich, Switzerland.
Turner will be remembered for being a pioneer in rock 'n' roll, breaking down barriers in the rock world for Black female artists in the music industry. 🎸❤️
