To all Smalley lovers
I received a wonderful message from Henny de Bruin, Hayabusa team staff and photographer at OLV Toren, so we would like to share it with you๏ผ

The famous Smalley is now installed at Het GroeneHuis and everyone can see him up close.
The installation was private, with only a small group of people present: the two falcon teams, the bell ringer, the taxidermist and the HGH people (no group photos).
I did a little talk about Smalley for the two journalists and the photographer.
The two newspapers that were invited then ran major articles. Not all of them were accurate, but the message that Smalley is now working on HGH was well received.
Smalley is now classified as a "young falcon" without the name Smalley.
The reason for this was that Smalley was a live falcon who played the role of a little hero experiencing exciting adventures on webcam.
This made him a favorite of many people all over the world, who followed his adventures every day.
After his death, this ended, and so did Smalley.
He now serves in an educational role at HGH, showing people what a young falcon looks like up close.
Hopefully, he'll keep playing the role for many more years to come, or at least longer than his 50 days as Smalley.

Recently, Mom and Dad have been visiting the nest more frequently and spending more time there.
Henny says, "We expect the first egg of the year to be laid within a week. We're excited to see what happens."

It's been just over a week since we lost E24 and then E25. While filled with sorrow and sadness; today we look ahead with some hope as both adult eagles were spotted in the nest tree and even had a bonding attempt in the attic.
We are not out of the woods yet and will continue to monitor the adults for signs of illness but seeing them return to a somewhat normal behavior has been a huge weight lifted off all our hearts!

At a press conference held by CROW representatives, WINK NEWS announced that the cause of death of E24 and E25 was avian influenza.

We are completely shattered to report, this morning around 3am; E25 started to have seizures similar to those of E24 and fell out the nest. CROW - Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife, Inc. was able to get to the nest before sunrise to retrieve E25's remains for a full necropsy.
This is uncharted territory for our cameras and viewers. We will keep the cameras streaming to continue to observe the health of M15 & F23. When we have more information we will post it here.

Our team at CROW was on standby, ready to assist with the SW Florida Eagle cam nest overnight. In the early hours of the morning, E25 experienced an episode and fell from the nest. Our team quickly retrieved E25, but sadly, the eaglet had passed away.
Our next step is to perform a necropsy to understand what may have led to this heartbreaking outcome.
Thank you for your continued support and patience as we work to try to understand what happened to E24 and E25.
CROW will continue to be on standby in case either Eagle parent should need care.

A video of E25's tragic end and the scene of him being retrieved by CROW staff will be released at 6 a.m. on the 29th, Japan time.

It was a precious 43 days during which I were able to watch the pweet and adorable E24 and E25 grow.

Pleased to announce that E24 was safely recovered with the assistance of CROW/Joshua Tree between 3:00-4:00 PM on the 27th and tests are currently being performed to determine the cause of death.

We were deeply saddened to learn of the overnight passing of SW Eagle Cam eaglet E24.
CROW was given permission to retrieve the deceased eaglet, and with the invaluable assistance of our friends at Joshua Tree, Inc,we were able to successfully recover E24.
The next step is to conduct a necropsy to try to determine the cause of death.
CROW remains on standby, ready to assist with any further needs or actions related to the nest or the eagle family. We truly appreciate the support and understanding of the public as we continue to work on behalf of wildlife in need.

We are devastated to post E24 passed away suddenly this evening in the nest.
Showing signs of distress just a few minutes prior to passing (6:41pm), we have no concrete information beyond what was observed on the cameras.
We do not want to speculate or provide inaccurate information about possible causes of death but will reach out to local wildlife officials to decide next steps and a possible necropsy.

But E24 went to heaven before that.
