Who remembers Duck Hunt and the classic NES Zapper?
I saw this collector’s item on display and instantly got hit with childhood memories. That dog’s laugh? Still undefeated.

Drop a comment if you played this back in the day—or if you STILL have one!”

What do you remember most about Duck Hunt?
• The Zapper
• The Laughing Dog
• Missing every shot
• Never played it (but I’ve heard about it)

Parents, Be Aware: Not Every Children’s Book Is Safe

Just as we protect our kids from online dangers and public influences, we must also monitor what they read. Books are powerful tools that shape young minds, and not all authors have innocent intentions. Some books subtly introduce themes that may not align with your values, often under the guise of being “educational” or “diverse.”

One example is The Big Bath House, which has raised concerns among parents for its content. While marketed as a cultural or family story, it’s crucial to ask: Is this appropriate for my child? Does it align with what I want them to learn?

How to Protect Your Child’s Reading Experience
• Always Preview Books – Skim through before allowing your child to read. Some themes may be hidden beneath innocent-looking covers.
• Research the Authors – Understand their background and motives. Some deliberately push ideas meant to shift your child’s perspective.
• Pay Attention to School & Library Selections – Just because a book is recommended doesn’t mean it’s beneficial. Be aware of what’s being introduced in schools.
• Have Open Discussions – If your child brings home a book you find concerning, talk to them about it. Ask questions and provide guidance.
• Trust Your Instincts – If something seems off, it probably is. You have the right to protect your child from questionable content.

Not every book is created with a child’s best interest in mind. Stay informed, stay involved, and don’t let subtle influences shape your child’s worldview without your knowledge.

In a recent speech, Barack Obama seemed to strongly urge Black men to vote for Kamala Harris. Some felt the tone was condescending and wondered whether he would deliver the same message with the same intensity to men of other races.

What do you think? Was his message appropriate, or did it come off the wrong way? Should leaders speak this way across all groups? Share your thoughts below!
