Raine Maida is the founding member and lead singer of the multi- platinum rock band, Our Lady Peace, and considered one of the best songwriters in music today. As a socially conscious global citizen, he is also known for his advocacy work with War Child, an organization that provides humanitarian assistance to war-affected children in countries around the world. Maida has traveled with the organization to film documentaries in Darfur, Iraq, and Ethiopia. He also has ties to the Montreal based Apathy is Boring. All of this work has earned him the Allan Slaight Humanitarian Award.
Maida's solo work is an adventurous combination of spoken word, electronic and folk music. He draws from his early influences of Leonard Cohen & Beat Poetry. He has shared the stage with Saul Williams, Jello Biafra and featured Strange Famous spoken word/recording artist Jared Paul on his first solo record.
