Incredibly honored to be apart of this years @FarmAid amongst many talented artists.
If you know me, you know how important farming is to me. Two things that have always kept me connected to this earth and my purpose here are music, and connection to the land. I have struggled at times to keep my head out of the clouds and my feet on the ground. With a wild imagination and an everlasting curiosity for how things are made, how things work… I always find myself seeking the purity and joy of digging into the soil and planting a simple seed. Nothing is more satisfying to a hurting soul than being the steward of even the smallest patch of land, and helping something grow. I have found my life’s purpose in both sharing my life’s stories through music, and also having communion with the many incredible land based projects that integrate regenerative farming practices, and some damn fine music.
I was raised with a love for farming and a wild yearning for my own homestead. I’ve spent years gathering knowledge and cultivating relationships with dozens of farms including cannabis and myco-culture. My life’s purpose was never to become famous, but to use the tools I have to fill an emptiness in the current state of the world. I began planning and hope to co-create an international co-operative for touring musicians and regenerative farms which will feature a circuit for touring independent musicians from all over the world.
Without digging too deep on that, I know that it’s going to take an actual movement and many collaborators who share the same values and visions that many of my community do. It’s always been a goal of mine to link up with Farm Aid and with folks who understand the absolute necessity of creating systems for the independent musicians and farmers of the world to thrive together. Everybody knows a plant grows better when surrounded by music.
