WHAT WE DO
Burma Democratic Concern (BDC) initiatives have been firmly rooted in practical measures to improve the Burma pro-democracy movement. Burma Democratic Concern (BDC) conducts monitoring on the full range of human rights abuses in Burma by documenting individual cases to submit to the international Human Rights bodies in order to take action on Burma.
Burma Democratic Concern (BDC) is dedicated to:
{1} Restore democracy, human rights and rule of law in Burma
{2} Provide humanitarian assistance to Burmese people who are suffering very tremendously under the brutal military dictatorship.
{3} Liberate Burmese people from repressive regime in order to establish democratic country.
{4} Free dissident prisoners and to protect them from torture, inhumane and degrading treatment in detention.
{5} Educate, health care and social security of Burmese people.
{6} Increase more awareness about Burma crisis
Burma Democratic Concern (BDC) is currently lobbying these issues:
{1} United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to adopt the binding resolution on Burma to resolve Burma crisis
{2} Human Rights Council (HRC), United Nation High Commissioner for Human Rights (UNHCHR), International Labour Organisation (ILO) and International Criminal Court (ICC) to take action on Burma crisis
{3} Establish United Nations Liaison Office in Burma to facilitate the dialogue process and to monitor the progress
{4} Take place genuine time-bond dialogue between democratic forces led by Aung San Suu Kyi and junta led by Senior General Than Shwe
{5} Implement 1990 election result in which Aung San Suu Kyi led National League for Democracy (NLD) won the landslide victory
{6} Free Aung San Suu Kyi along with thousands of political prisoners immediately and unconditionally.
{7} Reject unilaterally adopted junta's 2008 constitution which is designed to legitimize military rule in Burma.
{8} Reject junta's planned 2010 election in which junta is setting up everything to win their backed party in order to hold on power.
{9} Calling for world citizens to join hands with Aung San Suu Kyi led democratic forces in order to restore justice in Burma
{10} Calling for people around the world to rise up against military dictatorship in Burma.
