Adam and I put this video together from a compilation of concert footage - two different ones from Goa 2014 and one concert in Canggu, Bali in 2015. And, a little snipped from Ängsbacka. The video footage from Goa in 2014 was filmed by Loka Devadas (Björn Skålen). Joy was singing with us at one of the concerts in Goa a couple of years before she actually did the studio recordings in Bali. Novan and Lyta joined me for the concert in Canggu with the rest of their band.
The video footage from Sissu, H.P., India was shot by Manas Chowdhary on the same day we filmed for "Babylon, here I come" one day in August 2024.

Suddenly a lot is happening! Here is another song I wrote back in 2006. It has gone through so much work I won't even start to tell the story.....Well, it is the brother of "Babylon, here I come," the big brother. Pretty much the same people were involved.
I recorded it in Bali in 2015 and 2016. Bogie Prasetyo plays the drums, Doddy Sambodo on bass. Fredrik Finckenhagen made the bass line that Doddy plays. Vocals along with me are Joy Tyson and Lyta Lautner. There are some lovely vocal improvisation by the girls! On lead guitar is Novan Novantara Bjs. I play the rhythm guitar and the first lead guitar as well.
The story goes like this: Novan was late, very late, so I started recording the lead guitar while waiting for him. When he finally arrived, the track was pretty much done, we though. Then he added all kinds of magic to the mix!
Adam Alydrus has been working with me on this track for a long time. Somebody important did a good and very cool sounding mix, but it didn't quite sound like me. Bli Made at Posko claimed he could do better, and together he and I did the final mix. Gabor did the mastering.
As with previous tracks, I have put in ridiculous amounts of work and money. That's what I do. I give everything for da music. If you like it, please help me by sharing it.

Pre-story:
One day in 2005 around a kitchen table in Svenshögen in Sweden, Ellen Molnia and Vasudev blended Indian bhajans with reggae and a touch of rock'n roll. This resulted in the album “BEST QUALITY” in 2006. The song CONNECTION became a big hit in India. On Spotify Connetion now has 2.978.000 plays. The YouTube channel is approaching 4 mill views:

THE STORY this time around started like this:

"Dear Super Deluxe,
I hope this message finds you well. My name is Sriram A., and I'm an independent filmmaker currently working on a project titled "Chai Chillum Chapathi." I am reaching out to you with great admiration for your music and would like to request permission to use two of your songs, "Connection" and "Full Power," in my independent feature film."
Well, that was exiting. A film in Telugu, I was told, which is a major South Indian language. He wanted:
1. Any additional instrumentals of that song
2. Original file of the song
3. Vocals isolated
4. Instrumental version
Well, I contacted my old friend Carl Svensson, our sound man, bass player and drummer, who I hadn't connected with for a long time. I asked him if he had the old projects from 2006. He went searching, and incredibly enough, after a week or so he found the old projects! He sent over the tracks. Now while Sriram was promising this and that, but never sending over any contract, I went travelling to India in the end of January 2024.
One of my first nights in Arambol, Goa, I went to a concert by the beach with some friends at a place called "THIS IS IT." There was a surprisingly good band playing, Kundalini Airport (Band), but what I noticed most of all was the drummer. After the concert I went up to him and introduced myself with my Super Deluxe credentials. Dr Sel was a big fan of Super Deluxe, so once he actually believed that I was the man behind Super Deluxe, he was very enthusiastic.
Since we released "Connection" in 2006, I was not happy with the drums. First of all, they were programmed, and secondly, they were not reggae proper. Dr SEL was eager to play, especially on that track. We recorded the drums for CONNECTION and KOI BAAT NAHIN in the same session at Quints Studio in Mapusa, Goa, India.
In Goa I also worked with Kevin, CryptoKNYT Studio, who helped with editing and mixing the track. We figured out which drum take to use, we added some new effects, we took away some of the old stuff, and we put the beginning at the end.
Dr SEL also invited me to Pune to perform at the Supersonic Festival - a huge festival. There I got to perform "Connection" to a small crowd of enthusiastical Indians...The festival was not really my cup of tea, but it was definitely interesting to be there as a V.I.P. and watch what young Indians are into these days.
Back in Bali in mid March, I continued to work on the track with my friend Bli Made at Posko Studio. We polished the mix, fixed the levels, and added the final reverb. Finally, I got the mix mastered in Norway with John Inge Knudsen.
The cover is another story. 14 years ago Raphael Treza made a simple music video to our track consisting of photos. It took off big time. At the moment the video has 2,3 mill views. The first image is of his old friend, Binu, from Rajasthan. She is smoking a cigarette with an attitude. Somehow that photo catches the rebelliousness of the song. And, people who have seen his video will recognize her right away.
In Norway this summer, I was interviewed on national radio (Musikkreisen med Arne Berg). Both the new version of CONNECTION and KOIT BAAT NAHIN were aired. The last track I had already released long ago. Somehow I have just been sitting on CONNECTION without any plan. I haven't heard from Sriram with his big plans for a movie since late February.
Last week I released a new Super Deluxe track, "Om namah Shivaya24." The reception has been very positive, so I guess that made me think of finally releasing this new version of CONNECTION. Also, I have been sick in bed for the last week.
Btw, I have called it CHAI CHILLUM CHAPATI because that is what we sing in the chorus. If you have been on the road in India, the song makes perfect sense. If you haven't, I can't help you...
The track will be released on all platforms 11th October 2024.

Hello beautiful people!
A few weeks ago I was in India, Himachal Pradesh, where I recorded a new track with Manas Chowdhary, called "Om namah Shivaya24". We even recorded his family - Kiku and Him - for the choir. We had great fun!
One day we went to Sissu in Lahaul. That was a crazy adventure where I got to meet Palga Rinpuche who happened to arrived the same night....There I also met Naadi Asha. She is a great photographer and videographer. She offered to make a video for the track, and this she has already done!! I will upload it soon... I promise!
Actually, I am working on many unreleased tracks these days. It might end up being a whole new album...
