In 1998, Jenifer Estess, a 35-year-old New York theater and film producer, was diagnosed with ALS. At that time, there was no structured effort underway to solve ALS. Jenifer, her friends and family committed themselves to making a difference in the lives of people diagnosed with ALS and founded Project ALS as a non-profit 501(c)3.
Project ALS identifies and funds the most promising scientific research that will lead to the first effective treatments and a cure for ALS. Project ALS is the worldâs first ALS organization to focus exclusively on research. We have raised over $120 million in 23 years to fund ALS research programs at leading academic institutions.
