OthaSoul’s presence within the UK hip-hop community has been both inspiring and needed. Described by OkayPlayer as "arguably the smoothest-sounding British rap collective we've heard in recent memory," the duo have certainly made a lasting impression since their introduction.
Louis VI and Dozer Carter were both raised in Kentish Town but never crossed paths despite living within half a mile of each other. It wasn't until a mutual friend recognised their similar taste in music that they were introduced and began to collaborate. Louis had always been an emcee, though, initially, Dozer was solely a producer, and so their first musical endeavours together were Dozer producing songs for some of Louis' earlier solo projects. As their relationship developed, Louis encouraged Dozer to write as well as produce, which he did and thus sewed the seeds of what would become OthaSoul.
