October 10th, 2010. This is one of the last times a sight like this could be seen in Brandon. At that time, Brandon Transit received what likely is one of their largest single purchases of buses, 4 D40LF's and 7 D35LFR's. This meant the days were numbered for the Classics, the Nova, and the older D40LF's. As of 2011 they were all retired. As of today, the only bus still in service in this photo is 54, a 2010 D40LFR.
Due to rising COVID-19 numbers I will not be attending the Transit Race. I wish the participants the best of luck and I hope to be able to join them on a future date.
The stream is still going! Come and join us for the final 2 hours of flying! Donations to Extra Life get entered into some neat giveaways so don't miss it! www.twitch.tv/alexnessie
(You also don't want to miss something special at the end.)
Just thought I'd give a shout out to a friend of mine doing a 27 hour flight in X Plane for Extra Life! A charity benefiting Children's Hospitals around the world. Give www.twitch.tv/alexnessie a visit and donate if you can! All proceeds go to Extra Life and you can find out more about them here: www.extra-life.org/
Landin' in Brandon. About this time 4 years ago, Westjet ran a trial of direct service between Toronto and Brandon. Unfortunately, this service didn't last due to low ridership and high costs.
5 years ago today...
One of the ex-Calgary D40LF's makes its way east on Rosser Avenue in Brandon. These buses have now unfortunately been retired.
I figured that with the entire SWT opening, I would share this picture just before the ribbon cutting of the Transitway in 2012.
