JodhpurKing Rao Ganga had received the revered idol of Lord Shyam in theGangshyamji temple located in Juni Dhan Mandi, the inner city of Jodhpur Park,as dowry.Rao Ganga (1515 to 1531) was married to Rani Deori, daughter of Rao Jagmal of Sirohi.The princess had deep faith in the black idol. While leaving Sirohi after the marriage, seeing the faith of his daughter, RaoJagmal also sent SevagJivraj to Jodhpur as dowry for the regular worship of Krishna idol and Thakurji. The Teej festival of Jodhpur is 229 years old. So Rao Ganga got the idol kept in Mehrangarh.After some time, after getting a huge temple constructed in JuniMandi, the idol was consecrated in it. The temple of Shyamji built on the side of Ganga was later called the temple of Gangshyamji.According to Vaishnav tradition total of sixaartis are performed in the temple, of which Mangala,Shringaar,Rajbhog,Utthapan,Sandhya andShayan Aarti are prominent. the temple is very beautiful and due to its location in the middle of the city
