Hey everyone! We're taking a week off so no video today. We'll be back next Monday with a video we've really been looking forward to making: our 'Year in Review' episode where we discuss all the challenges we've faced with our new catamaran, give you an update on our warranty work, and talk about everything we've learned about catamaran sailing and living in the past 12 months. It's a hefty episode because we have a LOT of thoughts, and if you want to watch it a week early and with zero ads, you can sign up to our Patreon page, link below. I'll be uploading it later tonight or first thing tomorrow morning.
Otherwise we'll see you next Monday! Hope you're all having an amazing week so far. :)
Much love,
Nick & Terysa

Apologies for publishing this week's video a day late- we've been offshore sailing across the Gulf of Thailand and frankly I forgot to schedule it in advance. (And yes, we're starting to realise that we probably do need Starlink after all, as much as we like being cut off from the world sometimes!)
Anyway, onto this week's episode- we've got a beautiful brisk sail for you, mainly upwind and weaving between stunning islands in Thailand. Later we're rewarded with yet another beautiful anchorage- seriously, it's stunning here- where we can play in the water and relax onboard. In short, it's a day in our lives as liveaboard cruisers, so please sit back and enjoy this one if you're in need of a little escapism!

A letter to our amazing YouTube audience:
Our last few episodes have had a lot of you talking, and we've been reading your comments with interest.
Before I address some of those comments, I want to provide some behind-the-scenes context: all our episodes up until last week were filmed in August and September 2023. We knew that RR2 would need some more work done by the Seawind team, which we did not want to film, so we chose to film more intensively over August and September than we otherwise would have done. This was to ensure we'd have plenty of episodes in the bank to be released while RR2 was having her repairs/warranty/retrofits done (more on that in next week's episode).
While this seemed like a good decision at the time as it would result in more sailing-orientated videos, the reality turned out to be that this was a challenging time for us in terms of adjusting to a new boat, which had implications for the vibe of the content we were creating. We've read so many of your wonderful comments and many of you have been through similar difficult adjustments when transitioning from a small to a large boat, or a mono to a catamaran. We didn't want to sugarcoat this journey- in fact, we couldn't even if we wanted to, because you guys are very good at sensing when we're stressed (or maybe we're just bad at hiding it!)- and we decided to just be upfront about how tough it was.
(To be clear- and I think we have been, but to be EXTRA clear- the boat itself is not to blame for our difficulties. The boat is amazing.)
We were SO excited when we took delivery of RR2 at long last, it was literally like a dream come true. But when, after a month or two, we were still making so many mistakes every few days, some of which had near-catastrophic consequences (hello anchor dragging), our morale got pretty low. Not gonna lie, we weren't in a great place and we were feeling really discombobulated. And that's come across in our episodes, and for some of you, it hasn't been easy watching. We get that. We've been accused of 'whinging, moaning, complaining.' And, given how incredibly privileged we are in so many ways, we understand how it may come across like that, even if it was absolutely not our intention. From our perspective, we were just being honest about the challenging nature of the transition- but for many of you, it was just too much, too often. I totally get it.
Looking back, I think one of our errors in hindsight was concentrating much of our filming during a time that turned out to be pretty difficult. This meant that you, our lovely audience, ended up with a disproportionate number of episodes where we were struggling, and, over time, this has unsurprisingly led to a perception by some of you that we're no longer enjoying our incredibly lucky lives. Some of you have told us we need a break from the boat. Some of you have said we need help. Both of those things were true, and luckily we had to take some time off the boat while the repairs/work was being done, which gave us a bit of breathing space and time to reflect and get some perspective.
We're naturally positive and happy people, and being in a stressed and anxious headspace is very, very, very discomforting, to say the least. It's an incredible relief that we're now back on an even keel, mind the pun, and feeling like our usual positive selves.
As I said, last week's episode was filmed in late September. It's now February, so a fair bit of time has passed since then and I am beyond thrilled to be able to reassure you all that in the intervening months we've had some incredibly enjoyable sailing on Ruby Rose 2, and our confidence is finally returning. As we make more and more positive memories on Ruby Rose 2, the memories of the difficulties we faced last year are fading and we're chalking them up to valuable learning experiences. In August and September there was a constant undercurrent of anxiety about what was going to go wrong next; after an INCREDIBLE cruise to Koh Chang where almost nothing went wrong (well, apart from our anchor dragging again, twice, but we think we've worked it out?) and so much started going right, we're feeling so positive and excited about our sailing plans for 2024. Those Koh Chang episodes are coming out in the upcoming weeks.
We want you to come on that journey with us, so if you've been wondering when we're going to turn the corner, it's happened at last, and we hope we can continue to entertain you all with our shenanigans and adventures in the months and years to come.
With love, gratitude and appreciation for your honest comments,
Nick & Terysa

No video today unfortunately because we've been having way too much fun at the Annapolis Boat Show! Big thanks to everyone who stopped us to say hello, who came to the Creators booth and Seawind stand to have a chat, who came to the Panel on 'The Truth Behind YouTube' to ask questions, and who came along to our Patron meet up. It was so fun to meet you all!

Wow. What a weekend.
As most of you realise, our videos are not in real time, so let me give you a quick real time update. This past weekend we hosted the premiere of Ruby Rose 2 for our Patrons as well as a few Seawind customers (and YouTube subscribers!) who have 1370's on order. All our Patrons were invited to attend and, to our shock, 40 of you flew from all over the world- on fairly short notice, mind you- to come and spend the weekend sailing, attending technical seminars, taking tours of RR2 and, of course, there was plenty of time for socialising and getting to know each other. We were also over the moon to see so many friendships being forged between our Patrons, because having a community of amazing sailors/sailing enthusiasts who are connected with each other is what makes us so happy, and is really the reason we have a Youtube channel to begin with.

We have decided to sail the world. Yep, like many others. We sold up, rehoused the cats (that was such a wrench, we loved those cats) and moved onto a boat!
We are now sailing around the globe, filming our adventures and making some sweet videos. We hope you like what we do!
