Senator Maria Imelda Josefa āImeeā Romualdez Marcos has been a public servant for more than four decades, from being Kabataang Barangay chairman in her youth to her present role as lawmaker.
She chairs three Senate committees: economic affairs, electoral reforms and peopleās participation, and cultural communities.
āManang Imeeā to kin, constituents, and fans alike, became assemblywoman of her paternal province, Ilocos Norte, in 1984, completed three terms as its congresswoman from 1998 to 2007, and served as many terms as its governor from 2010 to 2019.
As secretary general of the Experimental Cinema of the Philippines in the 80ās, her love for the arts found expression and culminated in the iconic Filipino film āHimala,ā recognized by CNN as Best Asia-Pacific film of all time.
Her personal advocacies include free annual cardiac surgeries, dialysis treatments, and hospitalization which have benefited thousands of indigent patients.
