We don't water the leaves of plants. We need to water the roots.

Why..leaves need to cook food..they can get water directly..?

And how can water come from roots to leaves...they have pipes ??

Yes ..very much like pipes..just that whole trunk do not have pipes..just the outer part..

#recommendedbooks
#nonfiction

Though I share the review of my favorite books under the YT playlist.
youtube.com/playlist?list=PLc...

But I have a huge collection of non -fiction also which we use in our homeschool. But I can't review them as I have not read them myself completely. We use them for answering our "kid questions" and in our lapbooks as and when required.

Please note Most of them are actually not "age appropriate " for my 6-7 year old. But I love collecting books 😌.

Let us start with books - PLANTS.

Botanicum-
This was our first book of collection. My 7 year old's first introduction to plants.
It is a simple , to the point, "non- academic" oriented book.

I love the pictures and that the fact that it covers " carnivorous plants, lichen, algae, various kind of plants kids generally don't see around".

The visual dictionary of plants -
1. I had seen this book in waldorf curriculum.
2. It is too much comprehensive book that my kids would be able to get involved only after they are atleast 10 year old ( in my opinion).
3. I love it just because it is so beautiful 😄.
4.We read specific pages of required topic during our "why" questions.

Plant life -II

Not age appropriate for kids below 10. It is too extensive but I love the "REAL photos". That's the only reason I bought it.
Again, we check it's "glossary" if it has our "what /why" topic and read that page..that's it.

#placevalue
I did not learn place values..100s,20s,1s concept in my childhood. But Montessori addition is based on this concept extensively.
So, I learnt it myself few years back and we use this concept in our busy books a lot.
Here is the kind of tutorial video for parents with whatever I know..how do we use it..and how to teach your little ones this concept.

The latest video is up

I learnt addition in a non-Montessori environment and I still excel in mental maths.
But when it came to teaching my child..What is the addition? How do we do it practically..visually..Much before we reach the Mental Maths level.. I was lost.

Anyways, started learning the Montessori approach..then Number Bonds method and then Base 10 blocks application.

Sharing the same here..What all manipulatives I used? How did I explain to my little ones? How did we move to Mental Maths gradually?

How to teach addition with the Montessori Approach (3-8 years old)? Manipulatives/Number Bonds?https://youtu.be/ZF9H90bStLA

I don't follow any one fixed curriculum for my kids..it just doesn't work for us..and I have learnt it a hard way.
So, now we make our own curriculum..mostly DIYs..doing what we love..we like to do..and find useful in real life..that's is how we homeschool 😉.

My newly turned 6 year old is a very very reluctant reader. She loves being read aloud too but get scared of even simple books if asked to try to read by herself.
So,I try to incorporate simple reading activities in the BUSY BOOKS it self so that we practice our reading as well in a fun and child led way :).
