The U.S. Army Reserve's 79th Theater Sustainment Command is regionally aligned to support to U.S. Army Africa and provides trained, ready, cohesive, well-led sustainment units for world-wide deployment.
The 79th TSC draws its lineage from the 79th Infantry Division which was first constituted during WWI on 5 August 1919. The 79th saw extensive combat in France and was inactivated after returning to the US in June 1919. It was reactivated for WWII on 15 June 1942 and landed on Utah Beach, Normandy 12-14 June 1944. After 248 days of combat, the 79th retuned home victorious.
Today, the 79th Theater Sustainment Command is part of America's Army Reserve and is regionally aligned to support US Army Africa on the world's second largest continent. It also commands four Expeditionary Sustainment Commands (4th, 311th, 364th and 451st) and generates combat ready units and Soldiers for the Army and Joint Warfighter that are trained, equipped and lethal to win our Nation's wars.
