One of the fastest growing segments of cosmetic medicine is also one of the least talked about. It's plastic surgery of the private parts! In the past ten years there has been an explosion in non-invasive and invasive treatments to tighten, smooth, lubricate, and enhance down there. On this week's post, I thought I'd share with you some treatments that you probably haven't heard of but would be interested to learn about (all PG-rated, of course!).

WOMEN:
1. Labiaplasty - Of all the cosmetic operations being performed on the private parts, this is probably the most mainstream. During a labiaplasty, the plastic surgeon surgically removes excess labia minora. This is considered a functional procedure for some, especially when the labia gets pinched during activities. For others, it's completely cosmetic. There has been some controversy regarding these operations, however, as some are claiming an undue influence from adult films and the unrealistic expectations that people may get from watching them. I think it's important for people to realize that labia minora come in all shapes and sizes, and there is no true aesthetic ideal for them!

2. G Shot - During this procedure a doctor injects hyaluronic acid filler into the Grafenberg Spot, otherwise known as the G spot. This is an area on the inside of the v*gina that is believed to have special properties (keeping things PG!). Although there is little science to show it works, some people claim that it enhances the intimate experience.

3. O Shot - This procedure involves injecting PRP (platelet rich plasma) into multiple areas of a woman's private parts. Practitioners claim it increases the intimate experience in many ways, and studies are showing it just might work!

MEN:
1. P Shot - Similar to the O Shot, some doctors are injecting PRP into the man's p*nis to increase its length. While some practitioners swear that it works, I can't imagine that it does much of anything!

2. Scrotox - This treatment involves injecting Botox into a man's sack as a way to smooth it out. Apparently, some men think a smoother sack is more attractive. One problem with this procedure is that it can cause the sack to hang lower, and this could be a problem sitting on toilets with high water levels! 😱

In the latest episode of my podcast The Doctor Youn Show, I cover these treatments in a lot more detail that I can't share in a PG rated newsletter! I reveal everything you want to know about v*ginal rejuvenation (lasers, radiofrequency, and surgical options), treatments that can actually enlarge a man's privates, and much more. I guarantee that you will find this episode to be FASCINATING!

I get asked all the time what procedures we do in my office and what surgeries I perform. "What's your favorite operation?" So, in this week's Newsletter I thought I'd share with you the most popular operations I perform, the most popular non-surgical treatments being done at YPS (YOUN Plastic Surgery), and my brief comments on each.

Surgeries:
• Breast Augmentation - the number one plastic surgery in the US is also number one in my office. Although the operation is not for everyone, it has one of the highest satisfaction rates in all of plastic surgery.
• Breast Implant Removal - Over the last five years I've performed more explants than ever before. Some are for BII (Breast implant illness) but more are for women who just don't want to have implants anymore.
• Tummy Tuck - I perform at least one per week, and although it's a big surgery with big recovery, it has big results!
• Lower Facelift - There is no substitute for a good facelift. Jowls and turkey neck begone!
• Eyelid Lifts - Both upper and lower, these short operations create a nice change with minimal downtime.

- Honorable Mention: Liposuction and Breast Lifts- I do a lot of these, too!

Non-Surgical Treatments:
• Botox - The most popular cosmetic treatment in the history of the world. My expert team of injectors and I have performed tens of thousands of these treatments with zero major complications. Botox is most popular, but our patients love their Dysport and Daxxify, too. Daxxify lasts up to six months! Please call our office at (248) 273-7700 for our current Daxxify special!
• Injectable Filler - The country's number two most popular cosmetic treatment is number two for us, too. Keep in mind that sometimes less is more when it comes to fillers.
• Morpheus8 - Today's gold standard for non-invasive skin tightening and rejuvenation remains super popular at YPS.
• IPL with Lumecca - Our state-of-the-art IPL device is perfect for reducing age spots and clearing up the skin. No downtime and nice results.
• Sculpsure - This is non-invasive laser fat reduction. You can treat up to four small areas in one 30-minute session and reduce upwards of 20% of the thickness of fat. And unlike Coolsculpting, it doesn't have a risk of the fat getting thicker afterwards! 😱

- Honorable mention: MiraDry - Over the years we have successfully treated hundreds of people who suffer from hyperhidrosis (excess sweating) of the armpits. MiraDry uses microwave energy to destroy the sweat glands of the armpits for a near permanent reduction in sweating. Our nurses perform this procedure using local anesthetic with results that are immediate. Stop armpit sweating for good!

I recently had a fascinating discussion with my good friend, Dr. Elisa Song, about how to raise healthy and happy children. Dr. Song is the country's foremost integrative pediatrician, combining Western and alternative medicine for what I consider the absolute best approach to health. Her new book, Health Kids, Happy Kids: An Integrative Pediatrician's Guide to Whole Child Resilience is out now, and you can click here to view it: bit.ly/3ymIZdn
I believe it will be THE definitive guide to children's health for many years. In her book, and in our discussion, she shared several simple but effective tips to boosting your children's immune system to keep them healthy. These tips can be applied to adults as well!

- Clear your nose with Xlear after exposures. When you are around people with upper respiratory illnesses, in order to catch them the virus needs to attach to the inner mucosal lining of your nose and nasal passages first, prior to replicating and making you ill. One way to short circuit this process is to flush those little buggers out before they have a chance to dig in and start dividing. Xlear is a nasal spray with xylitol that can do just that. Spray Xlear into each nostril after you or your child gets exposed. (She has a lot more detail in her book!) Click here to view Xlear: bit.ly/4dHK7rX

- Reduce sugar intake. Did you know that sugar reduces your immune system’s ability to fight infections by up to 50% within 20 minutes of consumption, and that effect lasts for at least 5 hours? Crazy! So if your child goes to a birthday party where other children are sick, then consider avoiding high sugar foods for the rest of the day to help keep their immune system strong and active.

- Get fresh air and daily exercise. When I grew up we spent so much more time outside than children do today. Being outside and getting fresh air, exposure to sunlight to boost Vitamin D, and exercising is great for the immune system and overall health.

- Prioritize sleep. Our children need a lot more sleep than most are getting currently. As a general rule, children from 3-5 years old need 10-13 hours of sleep every night, children 6-12 need 9-12 hours, and teens at least 8-10 hours. Not only is sleep integral to the immune system, but this is when the body secretes growth hormone to help them grow.

- Give your child some basic nutritional supplements. Dr. Song recommends a daily probiotic, omega-3 fatty acid supplement (like fish oil) and a daily multivitamin with Vitamins C, D, and zinc.

I had a wonderful and enlightening discussion with Dr. Song which is shared in this week's podcast. We talk all about the microbiome and its massive influence on our children's health, how supporting the vagus nerve with breathing exercises can have profound impacts on our children, how to get our kids to eat more fermented foods, and what "Whole Child Resilience" means and how to achieve it with our kids.

If you are a parent, grandparent, or planning to have children in the near future, then this podcast is a MUST LISTEN.
