New Information on the Kenya ETA Application Process
I have done a lot of ETA application in the past few months and there has been some recent changes, hence this post to keep you up to date on the latest developments pertaining to the Kenya ETA 🇰🇪
KENYA IS NOT VISA FREE: the only thing that changed was the name; from Visa to ETA which I process for $60. Let’s get this out of the way first before I move on to explain the changes below 👇🏽
1. Have your 2 way flight ticket ready, there’s no application without this.
2. Get your travel itinerary ready for the entire period of stay in Kenya, the government wants to know what you’ll be doing everyday while you’re in Kenya.
3. Your accommodation receipts for the entire period of your stay as well get it ready, gone are the days when you submit accommodation details for 2 to 3 day, now they want to know where you’ll be staying for the entire period.
If you have plans to visit other counties apart from Nairobi, you have to share accommodation details for all.
4. Kenya ETA extension is no longer done online, you have to visit Nyayo house for extension and it doesn’t take so much time, you can get it done same day.
My expert advice with all of these changes are:
1. Don’t pay for any hotels in advance, get a booking but pay when you get to the property and do not drop your card details.
2. Your flight ticket should be for 2 to 3 weeks period before the start of your ETA process, yes the ETA is to be out in 72 hours but give ample time for them to approve it just incase it’s not approved on time, so you don’t miss your flight as most airlines don’t do refunds.
3. Keep your itinerary strictly to Nairobi only, doesn’t matter if you’ll visit other counties just state you’ll be in Nairobi only else they will take you through the stress of booking accommodations in all the counties you mention you’ll be visiting.

I say this because with the new Kenya ETA, you need to have your flight booked and also your accommodation ready before applying for the ETA, it’s impossible to apply without these things but how are you sure the visa will be approved?

The government of Kenya has introduced Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) in place of visa, which means Kenya is not visa free but the fee to enter Kenya has been reduced.

Zakayo strikes again, speaking without any move in place, saying things just for the sake of saying them.
Visa free or not you’ll still pay for flight of at least $800, so I don’t know why anyone would be exited about $100 visa being scrapped.
Make the move if you want to, if not stay where you are, it’s not visa that is holding you back because like it or not you’ll still spend not less than $3000 to either visit or relocate to Kenya.
