CALVARY CHAPEL HISTORY
Calvary Chapel is not a denomination, but a worldwide network of churches planted as a result of the Jesus Movement Revival that occurred during the late 1960s and 1970s. Pastor Chuck Smith, the founder of Calvary Chapel, was one of the people God used at that time during church history. He was dedicated to two principles that continue to be essential to the ministry of every Calvary Chapel:
1. The simple and systematic teaching of the entire Bible, verse-by-verse and chapter-by-chapter.
2. The belief in, and the need for, the empowerment of the Holy Spirit of God.
