Hallo - this is a bit of a random one - I recently in youtube comments started seeing comments about the '12 Codes of Collapse' by some Swiss Doctor. The comments always seemed to be set up as - oh this reminds me of the intriguing story about X-doctor who disappeared leaving behind prophetic warnings about apocalypse etc etc --- ie. Just the kind of thing Im interested in -- - it appears highly suspect, could just be some marketing for a fiction, but it seems pretty sketchy. Apparently this all started up about a month ago.
After some basic searching, related material was very very sparse, and it all seemed very sus. So I just thought Id leave this as a note, because Im sure like me many of you are interested in apocalyptic stories and discussion - and this is one I'd certainly not follow any links of myself.

So. Here's the thing, a few years ago a friend gave me a Terrarium and it did amazing for several years. Somewhere along the line though, things went wrong... and now... I'm scared I'm cultivating a garden of Nurgle. I feel if I open it, I will unleash untold horrors upon the world. So it just sits there... on my mini building desk... in its glorious horror.

(update: Im not giving up on this -- what I remember is that it was a story where a kid has to choose a companion (like a teddy bear or something) and they are like deeply bonded? Its designed to help support the children growing up? - but inevitably they then are abandoned as the kids outgrown them - then I remember the toy becoming resentful and bitter, to the point that eventually it murders the owner.)

Ok this is a long shot -- I am trying to remember a story or movie? I read/saw at some point in my life, it was this story about a world where humans have 'companions' but theyre like toys? or something? paired with a human from childhood? I remember it being bleak, and that as the humans get into adulthood the companions are often disregarded.
I dont think it was typical science fiction like PKD or Bradbury, I thought maybe it was in an anthology like Pan Horror series, or Point Horror from the 90s? Ive tried searching all different ways, but I cant find something that aligns with it.
Its ALSO possible my brain has just merged several concepts into something that doesnt exist, but I feel really strongly theres a core memory just out of reach and I cant get to it.... anyway... if you can help please do :D

Whenever I see comments being like '40K is too depressing, humanity could never get this dark' and Im always thinking.. are you SURE? lol I mean, its littered through our history - and even contemporary times.
This was an article I read this morning about a family in south korea who could no longer maintain their parents grave sites, so decided to cremate. But the description of how it plays out shows this deep lack of empathy from those not immediate to the family, which is to be expected - sadly often how human reality just is - or maybe has to be for that matter. The descriptions hit hard as I could imagine in 40K or any dystopian verse for that matter.

The good news, is that when I do publish the preview, it will contain two Prologues from the complete narrative to help give a better initial foundation. Its heading positively towards its final editing stages.
