Bulgar Klezmer Band is the first klezmer band based in Bulgaria. The members of the band come from diverse musical backgrounds but share a passion for traditional klezmer music (music of Ashkenazi Jews of Eastern Europe).
Founded in September 2022, the band gave its first concerts at various city venues becoming the first klezmer band ever to perform a traditional instrumental klezmer music set at Sofia Synagogue.
Band members learned to play klezmer from world famous performers, performed at klezmer festivals and workshops worldwide and strive to preserve authentic klezmer style and ornaments in its arrangements while maintaining the original purpose of the style - perform party & celebration music.
The band performs instrumental klezmer dance music, as well as Yiddish songs, Hasidic nigunim and Sephardic songs.
