Throughout the pandemic most of our clients have become rescue animals. Many of the animal rescues here in Panamá have lost their funding and staff to coronavirus cuts, so we have been volunteering to build enrichment toys for the animals to make their lives in captivity a bit easier. This was a big install for a whole new interior playset for a troop of capuchin monkeys. watch video on watch page

If you have been following along, you have noticed we have been doing lots of Rogue jungle bridge repair! This is to repair and important scientific route through the rainforest called "pipeline road." Scientists have been conducting research here for over 100 years, but unfortunately it's fallen into such disrepair it's no longer safe to cross. We are a volunteer crew fixing it up, but need some equipment and supplies. We are teaming with the amazing tropical architects at Cresolus to rebuild many of these 100 year old bridges! Help us by checking out this video and sharing our fundraising campaign! watch video on watch page

We have been volunteering with the local Jungle Animal rescue shelter that has been largely defunded due to pandemic. We are trying to make fun toys for the Animals, but also doing basic tasks like feeding and cleaning. Also this is the reason for sooo many cute Animal videos! watch video on watch page

May greetings from our little jungle lab in Panama. We have been keeping quite busy here using our tools to quickly produce lots of protective gear for healthcare workers and producing some educational content with the Smithsonian for kids who are stuck at home.
While it feels like time has come unhinged, we are able to pay better attention to the changes in nature around us. The dry season finally gave way to the torrential rains of the wet season, and we are absolutely blessed to have four new quadruplets agouti babies emerge from the den in our backyard. Check out our latest 360 Vr video we snuck right near where they are playing and get prepared to be blown away by cuteness :)

Lockdown has been very strict here, and several of our neighbors, even in this tiny jungle town, had battles with Covid-19, but so far they are recovering .

It's the magical couple days of the year that the Guayacan trees in the rainforest turn bright yellow along the #Panama #Canal.
We are all basically under house arrest in panama, but our drone can still go explore the rainforest.
Have a nice peaceful float through the jungle canopy.
Stay safe and be nice to each other.

Hi Youtube friends!
We just finished designing and editing the 400+ page book of photography, projects, how-to articles, computer generated poems, and open-source designs, and we want to share it around (for free of course!)
dinacon.org/book
These works come from the participants of the Second Digital Naturalism Conference (DINACON) which took place at a new Art+Technology field station in the Soberanía Rainforest in Gamboa, Panama. The conference focuses on new ways of interacting with, empathizing, and exploring the natural world. Participants came for 5-21 days throughout August, 2019 and conducted biological field studies, interactive performances, technological workshops, and lots more! Just some examples include modifying pulse sensors to work for hummingbirds, plant-controlled drones, Balloon mounted Wireless sensor networks, wearable, robotic plant sculptures, Agouti Video games, building DIY microscopy mobile studios, Ant-assisted self-portraits, and lots of leaf-cutter ant research and experimentation in general!
The included video is a good preview of the projects that you will find in the book:
You can order a print copy of the 408 page, full-color, A5 sized book for $50 (and $7 of that goes to support our residencies at our Jungle Lab in Panama!)
www.lulu.com/shop/andrew-quitmeyer/proceedings-of-…
You can also view or download digital versions of the entire book for free!
The previous proceedings from Dinacon 1, in Koh Lon, Thailand are also still available in print or free PDF forms all at dinacon.org/book
Thanks!
Lots more tech+jungle+fun animals coming up as always!

Hi! A lot of new folks joined this channel (largely because of a video about a snake eating a lizard), and if you are curious about us, we are a small, new laboratory for art, science, and technology located in the jungle next to the Panama canal. Our goal is to make open source science equipment and document it and share the beautiful place with everyone. We don't put ads on any of our videos, except those that bizarrely suddenly get hundreds of thousands of views and in those cases that little bit of revenue helps support our work :)
You can find out more at www.dinalab.net
Stay tuned for more neat jungle tech!
