OLD VS NEW FLASHBANG RANGE (VISUALIZED)

108 - 24

It’s a sad day for flashbang enthusiasts…

The time has come — BHVR has officially nerfed flashbangs by adjusting the range in which you can blind the killer. The new rule of thumb is this: the flashbang must now be within the killer’s field of view (FOV) to successfully blind them.

On top of that, a BHVR developer stated that it should no longer be possible to blind a killer who is hugging a wall. That said, it’s still technically possible — but only within a very tight range compared to how it worked pre-nerf.

TL;DR: BHVR tried to nerf flashbangs, but what they actually did was change the angles at which blinds are effective. If they realize that wall-hug saves are still doable, I wouldn’t be surprised if they nerf flashbangs even more.

On the bright side, locker saves, CJ techs, and basement flashbang saves still work — and I’m really glad those haven’t been taken away.

If you want to see the changes in action, check out the video linked to this post.

Cheers,

Dond

Just a little over one year ago I started posting some of my favourite Dead By Daylight clips on YouTube as a little passion project because I thought they were fun to share. Now, just a little over one year later, we reached a new milestone of 5000 subscribers. I'm writing this as a little appreciation to all of you supporting me the last year <3

Shameless plug: I do have a Discord community server where I like to chat and vibe with you all whenever I have the time to, so if you haven't joined it already make sure you do! (I will do a little give-away on there as well as a thank you for all the continuous support you guys have been giving me)

Lately, I’ve been getting some comments on my shorts regarding the perk Flashbang. As a DBD enthusiast and a stinky, altruistic survivor main, this perk hasn’t left my loadout for the past 16 months. That’s because I genuinely believe Flashbang is one of the most versatile survivor perks in the game. (If you couldn’t already tell from the fact that I mainly post content revolving around flashbangs.)

The comments I’ve been receiving are mostly objections from other players claiming that the Flashbang perk is entirely bugged and that I’m abusing it accordingly. The main argument is that flashbangs should always be audible to the killer under any circumstances. Here’s where I agree to disagree.

Flashbang noises can be broken down into three parts:

1.) The survivor’s grunt when throwing it.
2.) The flashbang making a ting sound when it hits the ground.
3.) The flashbang detonating, creating the sound that occurs when you blind the killer.

From my experience and understanding, a large wall should be able to obscure both the first and second sounds if the flashbang is thrown at an angle where the killer isn’t directly facing it. This is because the wall acts as an obstruction. However, the third sound—the blinding effect—should always be audible to the killer since they are directly facing the flashbang and literally getting blinded.

Most seasoned players are already familiar with how flashbangs function in this way—it’s been like this since their release. Additionally, BHVR has never provided clarity on whether this interaction is intended or unintended. By 2025, Flashbang will have been in the game for four years, and something tells me that if this weren’t the intended way for flashbangs to interact with the environment, it would have been patched a long time ago.

Now, I won’t ignore the fact that there have been rare instances where flashbangs make no sound at all, even when thrown in plain sight of the killer. But those are anomalies—because 99% of the time, killers do hear my flashbangs when thrown in the open. These occasional issues shouldn’t be a reason to claim the perk is entirely bugged or broken. And that’s my opinion.

If you’d like to join the conversation, feel free to respond to this post—I’d love to hear your takes on flashbangs!

Hi everyone,

as you may or may not have noticed I’ve been a little inactive on YT and DBD lately. I felt like I needed to take a small break from gaming to focus more on other things that are important to me in life.

I still love DBD and creating shorts is absolutely such a fun way to share the fun experiences I have while playing this goofy ahh game

So you guys definitely haven’t seen the last of me yet, can’t wait to see all of you soon again. Make sure to hit some sick flashbang saves for me while I’m gone šŸ«”šŸ«¶šŸ»ā¤ļø

So... this happened. Thank you all so much for the support on the shorts, video's and livestreams. Actually insane that we hit this goal? I never expected to hit this goal so quickly when I started posting some of my random clips on YouTube out of boredom. Once again, thank you guys so much!
