The Night Ships is a Dutch-Australian duo living and performing in The Netherlands. Their songs have been formed during travels to far-flung corners of the globe, from Namibia, to Iran, to Cambodia, with instruments found on the road. The result is an international project without equal, one that has a story to go with every song - an eclectic mix of trip-hop and folk, spun across moody electro-pop soundscapes. Reviewers have made comparisons to Portishead, Chelsea Wolfe and Ane Brun. Ingrid's vocal lines are heavily influenced by folk while Rob's modern productions float on his melodic bass lines and an atmospheric groove.
Both duo members have a long history of music writing and performance, both in The Netherlands and abroad - Rob as a founding member of When Logic Fails, The Light Parade and Querist, and Ingrid as a singer-songwriter, musical theatrist, and the singer of Sydney metal band Ruination.
