Rhythm is a movement; drums, an exemplary instrument of rhythm, is the key to lead us across space and time. The concept of “time” varies in different cultures, which nurtures a wide range of music genres. The 1st Hong Kong International Drummer Festival was successfully held 2016; it established a platform to embrace creative composition bringing together traditional and modern elements, which also go beyond the boundary of geographical regions. The upcoming HKdrumfest continues to carry this momentum by promoting the East and West cultural exchange and expanding the spectrum of drum music in Hong Kong.
