80 years ago today to the minute (18:18 GMT, December 7th 1941) a quiet morning in Hawaii became "a date which will live in infamy the United States of America"

2,335 service men and women and 68 civilians died, and 4 battleships were sunk at anchor with another 4 heavily damaged.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow,

Between the crosses, row on row,

That mark our place; and in the sky

The larks, still bravely singing, fly

Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago

We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,

Loved and were loved, and now we lie

In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:

To you from failing hands we throw

The torch; be yours to hold it high.

If ye break faith with us who die

We shall not sleep, though poppies grow

In Flanders fields.

Had an awesome couple of weeks of holiday, and got a chance to visit this beauty. Probably don't have to hint very hard at what the next 60 Seconds Warships video will be - look for it shortly!

Wanted to announce that the 60 Second Warships series (and other videos) will be on TikTok now as well as on YouTube. The old episodes will be uploaded slowly to TikTok over the next few weeks, and then new episodes will be simultaneously here and on TikTok.

If you are on TikTok, please go follow me there (@LastKaiser) and check out the first video on the feed which was uploaded today!

Also, there will be 4 new 60 Seconds Warships videos over the next couple of weeks, so keep your eyes open here for them! (and hit the bell!)

With the anniversaries of the 3 arguably most important naval battles of the 20th century within the past 10 days, which do you find to be the most interesting to read and learn more about?

Tsushima was the only decisive naval battle (both tactically and strategically) ever fought between battleships, and the battle which announced Japan as a major naval power.

Jutland was tactically a draw but strategically a victory, and the last ever major naval battle fought only by gun armed capital ships.

Midway was the greatest carrier versus carrier naval battle in history, and one of the most decisive victories both tactically and strategically in naval history.

All 3 are wildly different battles which defined the next eras of naval history, affecting ship design, tactics and strategy for the navies of the world.

Which battlecruiser from Jutland do you want to see in the next 60 Second Warships video? Eventually I would like to cover all of these, but I have to start somewhere!

Hey everyone, sorry the long absence. If you follow me on my separate gaming channel, you know I had some "real life" interruptions in recent months and researching and writing and making new videos fell behind a bit.

Things are back to normal however (whatever "normal" is in 2021) and there should be a steady flow of new 60 Second and other videos on this channel going forward. Aiming for 1 video a week here, and mixing in some longer form ones as well.

Thank you for all the support the past year, and I hope you guys enjoy this new video on Mutsu ... the Japanese super dreadnought that blew up in port, for reasons that are still unclear to this day.
