A great day off with Shane Bilson who came over to visit my garden for the first time and brought a very special giant bamboo present! We also went on (another!) trip to Linden Nurseries to pick up some cool plants. Their form of Fatsia ‘Camouflage’ has an interesting colouring and an almost Oreopanax dactylifolius look to the new growth, the Miscanthus giganteus grass for sale features a stunning vibrant red I’ve never seen on my plants and those big glossy Fargugium are only a tenner so had to join the party!
There won’t be a video this weekend as the rest of the weekend will be full of cupcake baking, listening to Pink Pony Club on repeat and bath bombs! Whether those are because of our soon-to-be 3 year old Harriet or my own decadent life choices is up to your imagination…

Coming up at 3pm tomorrow, an hour of tropical planting inspiration, plant chat and design tips from a stunning garden you might not have seen before - it was an empty new build plot in 2022! A really impressive garden transformation and a conversation with something for both newer gardeners and avid plant collectors, I’ll see you tomorrow…

Coming up on Tuesday evening, a return to Shane’s jungle steam garden where the growth over the last year has been phenomenal to say the least! Check out this Tetrapanax which has evolved into this monster from a little sucker like the first pic in under 18 months! It was great fun visiting Shane and the longer video will definitely contain lots of helpful exotic growing tips, vegetables of very specific shapes and advice on some cuddly plants you can grow to keep your mother-in-law happy 😂
I just need to edit it down so Shane doesn’t get into too much trouble… well, we’ll see how much time I have!

A little evening burst of golden sun bathes the garden after a cooler, greyer week. I might have the opportunity to film a quick video later on tomorrow if there’s any topics you’d find helpful / interesting? After that there’ll be a couple more garden visit videos coming up over the next fortnight I think you’ll enjoy…
p.s. It’s been a busy fortnight with work and a couple of other bits but if I haven’t replied to your video comment I will do as soon as I can 😊

A busy weekend but great to have some time outside and a catch up with some friends in the garden too! Andrew and Annmarie Swift of Fifty Shades of Green fame came over with Steve and Sue after visiting The Secret Garden of Louth - just a very slight contrast in terms of garden presentation and weed numbers between Louth and here currently 😂 I also managed to get a vid filmed last night and have just finished editing it so it’ll be up tomorrow. I hope you’ve all had a great weekend and fingers crossed the forecast stormy weather isn’t too damaging!

Coming up later this afternoon, a longer road trip video back to Sunk Island Garden Centre with Mark - lightly sprinkled with the mediocre banter you know and tolerate! Also featuring plans and progress for his exotic quarry area (two words: zip line), an update on the Brassaiopsis cuttings, an unplanned look at Shaun’s tropical paradise, shameless plant pillaging and a couple of ‘friendly’ faces make an appearance…
60 - 16
Remi proudly displaying the new arch we built in my last video with the beautiful bamboo behind. I’ll have another video up later in the week going through a few different hard landscaping questions and options over how I can really bring this area together (and maybe find room for a pond…)

Looking after our sunflowers a few years ago! Nothing changes, although thankfully I no longer wear those shorts! A photo I knew existed but my Dad appeared with a few weeks back 😊

The humongous and bizarre Kniphofia northiae starting to show off now and the recently planted Salvias in the raised bed looking colourful already. I took these pics yesterday, it’s a bit greyer today but I hope you’re all having a great weekend! Coming up tomorrow afternoon is a vid all about how I feed the garden here including my ‘rocket fuel’ cocktail for summer growth. It was going to be up tonight but I could only film it this morning and some princess has decided she doesn’t want a nap today so a change of plans!
(For clarity, I am not the princess in question 😂)

The big leaves on the recently planted Trachycarpus princeps already looking beautiful when the late afternoon sun hits. Coming up tomorrow afternoon, another treat for those of you enjoying the longer vids - it’s time to go plant shopping and finish planting the new raised bed! The plan was to go through filler plant ideas for summer colour and ‘normal’ garden centre plants that fit in perfectly with a tropical style (whilst not being too distracted by impulse buys!) but it might have turned into a bit of a trolley dash 😂 I hope you’ve had a great weekend in the sun and see you tomorrow!
