In one week Dianna is live-streaming a full day of her life to share what the experience is like for someone suffering from ME/CFS. Dianna and Kyle are raising money to support research and clinical trials for long COVID and ME/CFS.
The live stream will take place here on the PhysicsGirl channel Saturday, July 6th 2024, from 6:45 AM(PT. Pacific Time) to 6:00 PM(PT).
The live stream will consist of seeing Dianna, and what she does every day as a person with long COVID, interspersed with QnA's for the audience to ask anything they want, and a series of interviews with experts in the industry helping us all better understand the disease.
We hope you join and help us raise awareness for those suffering from this disease. The donations will be going to the Open Medicine Foundation(OMF), and there are more details to come.

6 months ago yesterday, I got COVID.
Today I can't shower standing up.
Can't do video calls.
Can't read books.
Can't drive.
But I'm still fighting to recover. 🥲

I have 4 months worth of selfies like this because couch is all I’ve been doing.
Since July, I’ve been struggling with what’s called “Long COVID.” Someone you know might’ve had this syndrome, and not even known. For me, the symptoms are, being unable to get out of bed for a few weeks after I pushed to finish my last YouTube video. (Post-Exertional Malaise). Becoming dizzy and nauseous if I walk more than 10 mins a day (Exercise Intolerance). Spelling cancel “cansul” in an email, losing my place in the sentence I was just writing, inability to process any scientific papers (Brain Fog). Getting extremely stressed while driving. (Emotional Disregulation) Along with extreme fatigue, sleeping like a teenager, breathlessness, digestive issues, chest pain, and kryptonite intolerance.
Post-COVID syndrome takes a few forms, including post-ICU complications, but mine is very similar to Myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS).
I’m hoping to make a video soon about this, but not yet. There won’t be a lot of videos from me for the next few months. I’m sad too. 😛

Well, this year has been different!
10 days ago, I married a dude who has made me laugh, supported me, and challenged me for the last 8 years.
My best friend from pre-school played the harp. My Hawaiian studies teacher from middle school conducted a beautiful ceremony. A family friend made the passion fruit cake (with a surprise physics topper). The moon was full, the ISS passed overhead, my dad stepped on my dress, red wine was spilled on all the things, everything was perfect. I’m going to sleep for a week now.
