I am so excited to announce that I will release the 17-minute single, which is based on the session I recorded 8 years ago in Boston. I was finally able to work on overdubs and mixing at my studio in Tokyo.
It was a great experience to see how much I could learn in the last eight years, and so happy to combine my young creation and my experienced decision.
This song is based on the motif of the Japanese traditional song called “Kokiriko Bushi” from Toyama, where my grandparents grew up and spent their lives. I am so happy to be able to shape my memories and landscapes of beautiful Toyama in music. Please enjoy! You can now pre-add on Apple Music and the other platforms as well.
5月8日に17分のシングルを新たにデジタルリリースします！この曲は8年間にレコーディングした音源を元に、今の僕が思うベストな状態に再度アレンジしたり、ミックスしました。
8年間で自分が確実に進化したことが実感できる瞬間でもあり、このトラックを改めて制作出来たことを嬉しく思っています。そして20代の自分の想像力と、今の自分の経験を積んだディレクションが一体となり、とても良い作品が出来たと思います。
この音楽は富山のコキリコ節という民謡をテーマにしています。祖父と祖母が生まれ育った富山。私も幼い頃から見てきた風景や思い出をこうして音楽にできて本当に嬉しいです。ぜひ聴いてください。プレアッドはリンクからできます！

Mao Sone is a multi-instrumentalist and composer based in Tokyo.
He completed his master’s degree with summa cum laude in 2016. He performed with internationally recognized artists, such as Danilo Perez, Joe Lovano, Terri Lyne Carrington, and John Patitucci.
In 2020, he appeared, in the leading role, in Kevin Hæfelin's film, TRUMPET, which has received awards from international film festivals.
In 2022, he released his album, “BRIGHTNESS OF THE LIVES”.
In 2023, he released his solo album “PLAYS STANDARDS”.
As a composer/arranger, he arranged for Danilo Perez’s “Jazz 100” in 2018, he worked for Wayne Shorter’s “Iphegenia” as a copyist in 2019, and he orchestrated for “Nat King Cole Christmas” directed by Terri Lyne Carrington. He composed/arranged piano pieces for the Netflix original series starting in 2024 at the same time he instructed playing pianos for actors.
