Mao Sone is a multi-instrumentalist and composer based in Tokyo.
He completed his master’s degree with summa cum laude in 2016. He performed with internationally recognized artists, such as Danilo Perez, Joe Lovano, Terri Lyne Carrington, and John Patitucci.
In 2020, he appeared, in the leading role, in Kevin Hæfelin's film, TRUMPET, which has received awards from international film festivals.
In 2022, he released his album, “BRIGHTNESS OF THE LIVES”.
In 2023, he released his solo album “PLAYS STANDARDS”.
As a composer/arranger, he arranged for Danilo Perez’s “Jazz 100” in 2018, he worked for Wayne Shorter’s “Iphegenia” as a copyist in 2019, and he orchestrated for “Nat King Cole Christmas” directed by Terri Lyne Carrington. He composed/arranged piano pieces for the Netflix original series starting in 2024 at the same time he instructed playing pianos for actors.
