Stick to the SOP

I know…
Mykonos may have looked fun.
Barcelona may have looked fun

But the truth was that I felt irritable, exhausted, and tired…

Of course I was still happy and literally having a fairytale trip
But I wasn’t working out like I normally do.

I usually workout every morning.

So instead…
I was drinking coffee every morning
Like I never do
I was sleeping at weird times
I was drinking alcohol
I wasn’t doing my cold plunge

So many things were off.

Which made me off

And when things are imbalanced in your body…
Normal challenges in your business just seem bigger. More frustrating. More stressful.

I felt like I was moving slower.
More irritable.

Don’t get me wrong… we had a great trip
But my body deserved better treatment
My mind deserved better treatment

I even brought two pairs of workout clothes…
Which were never used.

It’s a tug of war we play when we travel…
How much routine do we need to do to feel a sense of normalcy?
Productivity?

I’ll tell you… next time I’m:
working out every day
eating lots of veggies
getting good sleep— like I normally do.

In business we make SOP’s.
SOP’s are made for a purpose.
It’s for consistency.
For things to happen right again and again.
If you have an SOP at home for your health, why change it? Even when on vacation?

And that’s what I realized.

I have to stick to the SOP.
In business.
When traveling.
All the time.

If I want results… if I want growth…
It must be done.

How do you handle travel? Do you try to stick to your routine or do you go outside of it?

I was so disappointed.

Like unfathomly disappointed.

If that’s even a word. I’m making it a new word at this very moment.

Because this was one of the worst disappointments of the year.

I was robbed in broad daylight. Eating brunch in Barcelona.

It was a beautiful Friday morning. June 9th to be exact. Mike and I decided to grab our laptops and work out of a local coffee shop in the gothic region of Barcelona.

Work and see some sights at the same time? Why not.

I sat my phone on the table— like I usually do.

And then this blonde man with a black shoulder strap bag came up to us with a loose leaf paper — came within an inch of me— started mumbling what sounded like either begging or casting a spell on us

Either way— it was uncomfortable… I looked away, Mike looked away— and we kept saying no, no, no, NO!

Until he left.

I thought it was kind of off that he was so aggressive. He came uncomfortably close.

About 5 minutes later… I started looking for my phone…
Pockets… no
Mike’s pockets… no
Backpack… no
Did I leave it at the hotel?… no… I paid for the taxi with Apple Pay on my phone.
No chance I could have left without it.

And that’s when my jaw dropped

I realized he stole my phone.

That creep bamboozled both of us.

How could I be so ignorant? So blind? So careless?

I own an internet marketing company. My phone is everything.

It’s my whole business.

I wasn’t disappointed in losing the phone…

I was disappointed in myself.
For even letting it happen.

I’ve been betrayed, stabbed in the back, mistreated, lied to, and had my phone stolen before.

But no excuses this time.

I knew better.

It was a wake up call to me.

Time to be wiser.
Smarter.
More organized.
More calculated.
More aware of my surroundings.

I believe over the past 12 months, God has sent me little lessons
Some costed me a phone
Some costed me team members
Some costed me $100K+

The lesson is the same though:
Keep your assets close.
Trust no one.
Don’t let someone into your house. Your business. With the keys to the kingdom.

Protect yourself.
Protect your physical self by not having your phone on the table.
Protect your business by having legal agreements.

There are evil people out there.

We call them haters, jokingly.

But there are people who really want to hurt you. Out of jealousy or scarcity.

The man that stole my phone believes life to be so scarce, that the only way to make money is to steal from someone.

How sad.
I will pray for him.

But thank God I’m in good health. I still have my businesses. I didn’t get my wallet or ID stolen.

AND literally a week ago, I got a second phone… just for content!

AND it has cell service!

So I was really with a phone the whole time.

When things seem bad… you really just have to use the resources around you. And realize what you have.

Have you had your phone stolen too? Tell me the story in the comments!

Sometimes it’s still surreal not having an office anymore.

This is one of those times.

We had an intern lunch today. Some of our interns I’ve yet to meet.

Face to face time always beats zoom.
It was nice to see new faces. See what everyone’s up to.
To see what new things the interns are learning, and discovering about themselves.

Nothing beats in-person.

That’s why I travel.

That’s why I make time to see team members and the people I do business with, no matter where they live.

Orlando, Vegas, Spain, you name it.

P.S. we still have a co-working space. But it’s not as fancy at our previous 3000 sq ft double door entry, marble floor office before COVID. Man I still miss that thing. But I don’t miss the $7K/mo payment 🤪🤘

This is a text between my head of special ops (my assistant 🤪) and myself.

I texted her about 20 texts at once right before this.

My veins were beaming with french vanilla caffeine.

I don't really drink that much coffee, so... I was sending her a text every 3 seconds for about 20 texts straight.

It was getting intense!

I was worried for a second that I may be stressing her out...

Apologizing for being so passionate about this new project...

But more so blowing up her phone.

And this screen shot was her response 😍

My team members let me be me.

And I love that.

My team doesn’t judge me. And I don’t judge them…

We can be who we want to be, anytime.

And that’s culture.
