Born in Southern France and raised throughout France, international music producer and
rapper ItsDatGurlSweely creates a sound representative of countries across the world. Mixed
with a variety of flavors, Sweely is a melting pot of sounds from Nice, Fr., French Guiana, China,
Africa, the Caribbean and the Netherlands. Growing up with such a diverse background, Sweely
has mastered the art of a mixing culture and experience into her music.
Sweely began creating music after her family moved across oceans to French Guiana from
France. With issues at home, music was her only escape and the best way for her to express
what she was going through. She was introduced to Hip-hop at a young age in France, but was
drawn to the rhythm and melodies, since she couldnât understand the lyrics. Listening to the
songs of Hip-hop legends Timbaland, Mary J. Blige, Nelly and Diddy, the music made sense to
her although she didnât speak the language.
