Forty percent of the videos I have posted on YouTube since 2008 are of whales- Grey Whales, Humpbacks and Orcas in particular. Almost all of them were shot from land, mostly in the Salish Sea, on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada- which I call home.
Other Playlists on my Channel focus on environmental issues, such as derelict boats in nearby Cadboro Bay, my TV appearances over the years, Victoria sewage treatment, and the Great Bear Rainforest. There are also 55 videos of marine birds and other bird species. Plus, I have 16 videos from the TrailRider Hiking with the Disabled program I started on Vancouver Island in 2006.
One of the advantages I have over other whalewatchers, including especially people on whalewatching boats, is that my camera has 125X zoom, allowing me to take longer, continuous videos, capturing the whales when they are approaching in the distance, and tracking them until they have long passed. I can also film whales when they are far offshore.
