Pug Johnson grew up in Southeast Texas' Golden Triangle, where diverse musical influences shaped his sound. After the end of his first project, Slow Rollin’ Lows, and a two-year stint in Nashville, he returned to Beaumont, TX, to refine his craft as a performer.
In 2018, Pug formed The Hounds, recording three singles, “Calling My Name,” “Johnny,” and “Back to Austin,” at Four Eyes Studios. Despite 2020’s challenges, the band released the humorous “Coyote Ken Tucky,” showcasing Pug’s eclectic influences.
2022 brought the debut album Throwed Off and Glad, blending edgy, honest lyrics with Gulf Coast styles. Songs like "Angel" and "Miss You All" delve into deep themes, while tracks like "Poncho" and "Cocaine Street Blues" offer a lighter touch.
By 2023, Pug signed with Break Maiden Records and Thirty Tigers, gearing up for his sophomore album and rebranding all his work as "Pug Johnson."
